Could Budget 2027 increase operating costs for credit unions?

One of the technology-related announcements in Trinidad & Tobago’s 2027 Budget is the proposed introduction of VAT on digital and remote services supplied by foreign providers, effective 1 March 2027.

For credit unions, this deserves particular attention. Because credit unions primarily provide VAT-exempt financial services, they may not be able to recover VAT on related software and cloud subscriptions. This means the proposed change could directly increase operating costs.

With Microsoft 365, cloud backup, cybersecurity and other subscriptions now essential to daily operations, it’s a good time to take a closer look at technology expenditure.

We couldn't be prouder of Team ROSE ITSL for securing second place in this year's QPCC tournament!

It was a tough, hard-fought tournament, and our team showed incredible determination, resilience and fighting spirit all the way to the end. A fantastic achievement and one we're proud to celebrate!

Congratulations to One JABB on taking the title, and well played to all the participating teams!

I remember when Bigger Pockets was just an idea.

Gerard Sampson's Gerard Sampson vision was simple but important: create a space where people could learn some of the things we were never really taught in school about business, money, building something of your own, and navigating the professional world.

Fast forward to the fifth edition, and I was grateful to have the opportunity to sit on the panel and contribute to that conversation.

What I appreciated most was the chance to speak openly with young and upcoming entrepreneurs about the realities of building a business: the mistakes, the lessons, the things to look out for, and some of the challenges that almost everyone encounters along the way.

I shared a few lessons from my own journey, particularly around how technology can help businesses work smarter, become more efficient and avoid some of the growing pains that come with scaling.
