Can Uzun will be a guest lecturer as part of the MBL 513E Digital Architectural Design & Modeling graduate course on Friday, November 17th, at 13:30 p.m. During this session, we will examine the relationship between machine learning and architecture and discuss the ongoing paradigm shift via the use of AI models.

The session will be face-to-face at the Taşkışla campus BIM-1 Laboratory.

Transforming the Built Environment: Accelerating Circular and Digital Transition Symposium will be held on Tuesday, 21 November 2023 at ITU - Taşkışla Campus, Faculty of Architecture. The international symposium is organized by ITU Center for Advanced Studies in Architecture - Circularity in Built Environment Research Group, in collaboration with ITU Architectural Design Computing Graduate Program and Napier University (Edinburgh) with support of British Council- Connect4Innovation: UK-Turkey Higher Education Institutional Partnerships Fund.

The symposium will focus on the future of the built environment that is going through accelerated transformation via circular economy, as well as digital technologies, which are critical for introducing methods and tools to establish new systems for circularity.

Yapılı Çevrenin Dönüşümü: Döngüsel ve Sayısal Geçişin Hızlandırılması Uluslararası Sempozyumu 21 Kasım 2023, Salı günü İTÜ - Taşkışla Mimarlık Fakültesi'nde gerçekleştirilecektir.
Sempozyum, İTÜ Mimarlıkta İleri Araştırmalar Merkezi - Yapılı Çevrede Döngüsellik Araştırma Grubu tarafından, İTÜ Mimari Tasarımda Bilişim Lisansüstü Programı ve Napier Üniversitesi (Edinburg) işbirliğiyle; British Council - Connect4Innovation: Birleşik Krallık-Türkiye Yükseköğretim Kurumsal Ortaklık Fonu desteğiyle düzenlenmektedir.

Sempozyum kapsamında, döngüsel ekonomiyle hızlandırılmış bir dönüşüm geçiren yapılı çevrenin geleceğine odaklanılacaktır. Bu kapsamda döngüsellik için yeni sistemler kurmaya yönelik yöntem ve araçların tanıtılmasında kritik öneme sahip dijital teknolojiler ele alınacaktır.

Roberto Naboni, (PhD. Hons, Architect) is an Associate Professor in Computational Design and Digital Fabrication at the University of Southern Denmark (SDU), where he leads CREATE, the Center for Computational Research in Emergent Architectural Technology and Engineering, which he founded in 2018. At the core of Roberto's work is the advancement of experimental projects in sustainable architecture, fostering innovative concepts through research-driven progress in design computation, construction robotics, and material innovation.

Roberto's research portfolio includes over 80 scientific publications spanning books, journals, and conference articles. He is also a frequent speaker, with more than 50 keynotes and lectures. He has engaged in collaborations with international research centres, including ICD/ITKE Stuttgart, AAVS School, and Politecnico di Milano, where he previously co-founded and led ACTLAB. He worked on projects with various architectural firms and tech companies, including Skidmore Owings and Merrill, EMBT, Stefano Boeri Studio, ecoLogicStudio, Odico, and WASP.

Abel Groenewolt will be giving a lunch hour seminar followed by a discussion as a part of the MBL 557E Material-based Computational Design in Architecture Course on 26.10.2023, Thursday, 12:30-13:30 (GMT+3).

Biography
Abel Groenewolt is an architect, computational designer and educator with a particular interest in digitally supported design methods and numerically controlled fabrication processes.
Born in the Netherlands in 1980, Abel received his M.Sc. degree in architecture at Eindhoven University of Technology in 2006. After having worked in architecture practice in Helsinki for several years, he obtained a post-graduate degree in Architecture and Information at ETH Zürich in 2014.
At the Institute for Computational Design at the University of Stuttgart, Abel focused on digital design and fabrication in timber construction. His doctoral research focused on how such design and fabrication methods can be employed in the construction of timber plate shells.
Currently, he works as architect and computational designer at Ney & Partners in Brussels and teaches at KU Leuven.

Adaptive Sound Shield (uyarlanabilir ses kalkanı), Projesi, TEKNOFEST İZMİR’ de Çevre, Enerji ve İklim Teknolojileri Ön Kuluçka Kategorisinde EN İYİ GİRİŞİM ÖDÜLÜ almıştır. Öznur Çakır Aydoğan’a bu başarısından dolayı tebrik ederiz.

Proje, Lisansüstü derecesini İstanbul Teknik Üniversitesi (İTÜ) Mimari Tasarımda Bilişim Yüksek Lisans programından alan Y.Mimar Öznur Çakır Aydoğan ile İTÜ Mimarlık Fakültesi Öğr. Üyesi Doç. Dr. Meltem Aksoy tarafından geliştirilmiştir.

TÜRKPATENT E-39616753-110-220158752 sayı ve 02.03.2022 tarihi ile patenti alınan Adaptive Sound Shield özellikle nüfus yoğunluğu yüksek olan İstanbul, İzmir, Ankara gibi megakentlerde var olan yüksek yoğunluktaki gürültü kirliğinin insan sağlığı üzerinde yaratmış olduğu psikolojik ve buna dayalı olarak gelişebilecek bir takım fiziksel etkileri azaltmayı amaçlamaktadır.

28 Eylül 2023 Perşembe günü saat 17.00'de çevrimiçi gerçekleştirilecek “Tarihi Yapıların Belgelenmesinde Fotogrametri Verisi Kullanılarak Yapı Bileşenlerinin Modellenmesine Yönelik Hesaplamalı Yöntemler Geliştirilmesi” isimli TÜBİTAK destekli araştırma projesi kapsamında geçtiğimiz üç yıl içinde yapılan çalışmalar sunulacaktır. Toplantı, proje ekibi tarafından yapılan sunumun ardından gelecek soru ve görüşlere açık olacak şekilde planlanmıştır. Katılımınızı bekleriz.
