Your website doesn’t need a fresh coat of paint. It needs a conversion engine. ⚙️
Right now at AYone, we are in the middle of a few major website redesigns, and I keep seeing the same pattern when founders approach us.
They want new colors, updated typography, and flashier animations. But aesthetics alone won't fix a broken user journey.
Before we ever touch a WordPress install or open up a Figma canvas to send a design proposal, we run our clients through a deep-dive onboarding process. Why? Because a successful redesign solves business problems first, and design problems second.💡
If you are planning a website redesign this year, avoid these five massive traps:
🚨 1. Skipping the Strategy Questionnaire
If your agency isn’t asking you hard questions about your ideal customer, your sales cycle, and your primary bottlenecks before they start designing, run. You can’t build a solution if you don't map out the exact problem.
🤝 2. Hiding the "Trust Signals"
We see so many beautiful sites that completely bury their social proof. If you have great partner logos, client testimonials, or case studies, they need to be front and center. Trust converts; pretty graphics don't.
🗺️ 3. Focusing on the "Look" over the "Flow"
Your website isn't an art gallery; it's a digital salesperson. Every page should have a singular, clear goal that guides the user to the next logical step.
✍️ 4. The "Lorem Ipsum" Trap
Treating your website copy as an afterthought is a huge mistake. Design should frame your message, not the other way around. If you are waiting until the site is fully designed to figure out what to say, your messaging will feel disconnected and weak.
🛠️ 5. Ignoring the Backend Experience
A great redesign doesn't just look good to your customers; it works well for your team. If your new site is beautifully designed but requires a developer to change a single sentence, it's a failure. The backend needs to be as intuitive as the frontend.
A redesign is an investment in your company’s growth. Treat it like one.
