What does it take to get the best print quality?

The printer matters, but important factors come into play before a job ever reaches it. VersaWorks 7 is the RIP and print management software that ships with Roland DG inkjet printers, matching every job to the printer, the ink and the media in use.

Powerful yet easy, it is designed so that everyone, from first-time printer users to print professionals, can easily get professional-quality results.

Color is the clearest case. PANTONE and Roland Color System libraries, True Rich Color settings and the Nearest Color Finder give operators a repeatable way to land a brand color. Special Color Plate Generation handles white, gloss and primer layers automatically.

Speed changed too. RIP processing is up to 3.9 times faster than the previous version, handling up to eight files at once and sending output to as many as eight printers.

Built for industrial direct-to-object production.

The VersaObject IO-300 is a high-productivity UV flatbed printer designed for businesses that need precise, repeatable and durable direct-to-object printing.

The B2 bed prints up to 770 x 515 mm and accepts objects as tall as 204 mm and as heavy as 20 kg, at resolutions reaching 1,800 dpi.

EUV-H ink provides strong adhesion, abrasion resistance and durability across a wide range of materials, including difficult surfaces like metal and glass, while White, Gloss and Primer expand the applications you can produce.

Repeatability is the quieter advantage. A vacuum table and position guide pins return every piece to the same spot, while Distance Mode absorbs height variation up to 10 mm across uneven surfaces.

How much room does A3 really need?

Getting into product decoration usually reads like a capital project. The VersaStudio BF-16 is built to argue the opposite, a desktop UV flatbed with an A3 print area of 420 x 297 mm and clearance for objects up to 90 mm thick.

Three layer printing with white, CMYK and gloss means the color sits properly on dark and difficult substrates instead of sinking into them. Resolution reaches 1,200 dpi, and standard mode runs at 2.08 m2 per hour, which is real throughput for small and middle batch work.

Plastic, paper, leather and wood all go straight on the bed. Phone cases, cosmetic packaging, fashion accessories, notebooks and promotional items are where most owners start.

Most large surface decoration still starts with a film, an adhesive, and hours of skilled hand installation. The VersaObject LO and CO-i series take a different route, printing full color directly onto the object.

Size is the part that surprises people. The LO-640 covers a print area up to 1,520 x 2,450 mm and the LO-300 up to 656 x 1,450 mm, with clearance for objects as tall as 242 mm. Cabinet doors, floor panels, control panels, equipment housings, and measuring equipment all go on the bed as they are.

Distance Mode is what makes irregular work practical, holding sharpness across convex, concave, and textured surfaces rather than only flat stock.

When does a pattern stop matching itself?

Leather goods makers know the moment. One pattern printed across a full hide looks right until the parts are cut, and suddenly no two pieces of the same bag agree with each other.

SAKATA, a Japanese manufacturer of handbags and wallets for OEM clients and its own brands, solved it by moving where the printing happens. Using a VersaObject LEF-300 UV printer, the team prints each part directly, placing the pattern to suit the piece it will become. White ink lays down first, so the base color of the leather stops pulling the design toward it.

The prototyping change mattered just as much. Samples that once meant sending work out to a tannery now happen in-house, with leather and design data already on hand.
