Celebrating World Youth Skills Day 2026

Theme: Skills for a Shared Future

Today, the Somali STEM Society proudly celebrates the talent, creativity, and innovation of Somali youth.

As part of this year's celebration, our young innovators presented an Arduino-based Smart Irrigation System, a STEM project designed to monitor soil moisture and promote efficient water use through smart technology. This project demonstrates how science, technology, engineering, and mathematics can be applied to solve real-world agricultural challenges and contribute to sustainable development.

We are proud to empower the next generation with practical STEM skills that inspire innovation, strengthen communities, and build a brighter future for Somalia.

During the conclusion of the secondary school headteachers’ Comprehensive training programme in Mogadishu, we were honored by the presence and leadership of Dr Sadiyo Siad, Chancellor of Hano Technical University and CEO of Somali STEM Society.

In her closing remarks, she emphasized the vital role of schools in shaping young people and youth by equipping them with knowledge, skills, values, and confidence.
