Tento týždeň som prijal pozvanie do podcastu Grantup, kde ma vyspovedal Tomáš Pavlik a ja som prezradil pár zaujímavostí okolo DimensionLabu, produktu Siml.ai, ktorý vyvíjame, a čo to som prezradil aj o začiatkoch firmy, ako som "bootstrapoval" firmu s využitím kryptomien, ako som dal šancu grantovým výzvam pre náš malý výskumný tím, a všeobecne čo ma inšpirovalo k ceste, na ktorú som sa vydal.

Job Description:

We are looking for Senior Full-stack Software Engineer (React + TypeScript + Python) to build the SIML.ai Model Engineer web application together with the rest of the engineering team. You will work with the team that includes a Chief Technology Officer, Product Designer, Machine Learning Engineer and implement state-of-the-art algorithms with the help of our research team. You will be responsible for defining and building the web app and implementing new features both in the frontend (React + TypeScript) and backend (Python + Django). You will complement our team and your work will help us create a fundamental architecture for easy-to-use platform for training numerical simulation models used in computational fluid dynamics, structural mechanics and other fields where high-performance numerical simulation is key component for research and development. The ideal candidate will be passionate about software engineering, clean and performant code and also have interest in artificial intelligence. You stay up-to-date with the latest developments in the software engineering field and you’re willing to learn about MLOps. As we grow DimensionLab we expect you to grow with us. As our company scales, we envision a successful candidate to grow into an Engineering Lead or a similar position.

Responsibilities:

- Take the lead in architecting and implementing the production version of the SIML.ai Model Engineer web application from the MVP that we’re looking to launch by the end of January / early February
- Work closely with the engineering team and collaborate with the research team to implement new product features in the web application
- Implement internal tooling to facilitate both research and product development within SIML.ai platform
- Implement backend services for deploying Dockerized servers in GPU cloud
- Prepare the web application for best practices like The Twelve-Factor App
- Writing clean code and performant code

Skills & Requirements:

- Experience building data/ML products or cloud-based software
- Proficiency working with React and state libraries like Zustand, Jotai or XState
- Proficiency with Python and expertise in Django
- Proficiency with Docker
- Experience with data visualization for web applications
- Exceptional communication skills in English - both oral and written
- You are a swift learner and can easily pick up new concepts
- 5+ years working as an engineer in full-stack (both backend and frontend) roles
- You are incredibly proactive, independent, and comfortable in proposing new ideas. This also means holding your ground when you believe you are right
- Be available to start by the beginning of January 2023. We're looking to fill this role immediately

We are looking for proven track record of doing exceptional work instead of relying on university degrees or certificates, although having an university degree would definitely be great to have under your belt!

You should have strong programming skills and also have an active GitHub profile where you showcase your work which you are proud of!

Vast majority of technologies in the world come to life through months or years of extensive simulation during their development. High-performance computing, parallel processing and GPUs helped push the computation time from months to weeks. With the help of applied machine learning, we are seeing a reduction from weeks to days. We think that’s not enough. At DimensionLab, we are building tools for engineers and researchers to tame the physics of their projects in hours. Collectively, they make up a cohesive platform we call SIML.ai.

SIML.ai is a software platform for working with high-performance AI-based numerical simulators. There’s a paradigm shift happening in the world of physics simulation. Machine learning based methods are increasingly outperforming even the most optimized classical numerical solvers. These AI-based simulators, or as we call them, “learnable simulators”, have a massive advantage over classical ones because they are orders of magnitude faster, more efficient, and with the right approaches, more accurate. However, this paradigm shift is not happening fast enough due to lack of focus on streamlining the process of rapid experimentation, training and optimizing physics-informed neural networks and no easy-to-use tools that leverage learned simulators for solving engineering problems.

At DimensionLab, we saw an opportunity to bridge great user experience with state-of-the-art AI methods to create a product that significantly increases the effectiveness of working with learnable simulators.

We are looking for an expert in machine learning (mostly deep learning) that is coming from industry or academia with proven track record of exceptional work in this field. You will lead all the processes from data preprocessing, to training models and deploying them to production. You will complement our team and your work will help us create a fundamental architecture for easy-to-use platform for training numerical simulation models used in computational fluid dynamics, structural mechanics and other fields where high-performance numerical simulation is key component for research and development. The ideal candidate will be passionate about artificial intelligence and stay up-to-date with the latest developments in the field.

𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗽𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀:

- Understanding engineering and scientific objectives and developing models that help to achieve them, along with metrics to track their progress
- Analyzing recent machine learning and deep learning scientific papers and benchmarking the provided code
- Analyzing the deep learning algorithms that could be used to solve engineering and scientific problems
- Building graph-based deep learning algorithms for use in high-performance numerical simulation
- Building data preprocessing pipelines that transfer simulation timeseries data or real-time data from sensors into graph representations
- Verifying data quality, and/or ensuring it via data cleaning
- Supervising the data acquisition process
- Defining validation strategies
- Defining the preprocessing or feature engineering to be done on a given dataset
Training models and tuning their hyperparameters
- Setting up parallelized and distributed training pipelines leveraging GPUs or TPUs
- Analyzing the errors of the model and designing strategies to overcome them
- Deploying models to production

Skills:

- Proficiency with a PyTorch, experience with PyTorch Lightning is a great bonus
Proficiency with Python and basic libraries for machine learning
- Experience with PyTorch Geometric and other graph-based ML libraries
- Expertise in visualizing and manipulating big datasets
- Familiarity with Linux and Docker
Ability to to optimize ML training and inference pipelines
- 3+ years of industry experience in machine learning or related field, OR 5+ years of academia experience with 3 or more high-impact scientific papers.
