AI agents are entering the insurance industry – and human expertise stays at the centre.

At our 2nd InnovAIte Conference in Žilina, researcher Peter Bednár (Technical University of Košice) described how insurance is entering a new era of agentic AI – systems that don't just answer questions, but plan, reason, and act. His take: "The future of insurance will not be fully automated – it will be intelligently managed."

A concrete example? GNOTHEIA by Gratex International, a.s. – an AI ecosystem for claims processing built on the human-in-the-loop principle, presented at the conference by Stanislav Vasilko.

Most AI prototypes never reach the market. Not because the technology fails – because no one funds the gap between proof-of-concept and production.

At the second InnovAite Slovakia conference we spoke with prof. Juraj Gazda from the Technical University of Košice about a problem the Slovak innovation ecosystem knows too well: research labs producing strong TRL 5 prototypes that then stall before reaching real customers.

The leap from a working laboratory prototype to a commercially viable product needs certification, safety validation, and capital that small and medium enterprises rarely have on their own.

In the AI era, traditional industry standards can slow you down more than they help. Counterintuitive? At InnovAIte Slovakia conference, Pauliina Harrivaara from Cleopa GmbH made the case — and then explained why that makes compliance and transparency more important, not less.

In AI development, speed matters more, and waiting for consensus often means losing the de facto standard race entirely. But abandoning standards doesn't mean abandoning trust. It means embedding it earlier.
