🌍️ At IBL, we believe that caring for the environment should create a real impact.
That is why we decided to start with facts instead of big promises.
Our first step was to calculate our carbon footprint. It was not a simple process because we included everything from our daily business operations and business travel to our colleagues' commute to work.
Once we knew how much CO₂ our company produces, we started looking for a way to genuinely offset it. Our goal is to become Net Zero, which means we do not release more greenhouse gases than we remove or compensate for.
After careful research, we found the Austrian company Sonnenerde.
Their approach stood out because it delivers measurable and verified results.
How does it work? 🌱
Organic materials such as wood and agricultural biomass are processed using a special technology. Instead of releasing the stored carbon back into the atmosphere as CO₂, the process transforms it into biochar.
The biochar is then added to high quality soil and growing substrates, where the carbon can remain safely stored for hundreds or even thousands of years. At the same time, it improves soil quality, helps retain water and nutrients, and supports healthier plant growth. 🌿
Thanks to this, IBL is one step closer on its way to being Net Zero 💚
