Comparison of the Degen DE1103 and ATS Mini (SI4732).

In the video you can clearly hear distortion and overload issues on the ATS. The firmware is constantly glitching, the frequency jumps around, and the menu disappears too quickly. Is it really that difficult to write proper firmware so the encoder does not miss pulses or generate false triggers?

Version 1 is not a serious receiver — it’s just a mess. And you can hear it yourself: on weak signals the ATS produces much more noise, while the Degen provides noticeably smoother and more comfortable reception.

The smallest SSB receiver I’ve ever seen — ATS Mini V1.

The sound quality is honestly pretty poor. It’s not only the tiny speaker — the audio amp itself adds distortion, and the AGC behavior also seems far from ideal.

Nevertheless, reception on the HF bands is still possible even with a 70 cm telescopic antenna.

My favorite old receiver — the Degen DE1103 📻

More than 20 years old, and it still brings me joy every time I turn it on.

Reception here is on the built-in telescopic antenna from the 16th floor in Bratislava, locator JN88ND.
