Race weekend adds up before you even buy a ticket. ๐ŸŽ๏ธ

For four days in October, Singapore itself gets pricier, whether you're going to the race or not. Rooftop tables get harder to book, hotels near the circuit tend to raise their rates, and the roads close around Marina Bay.

But there's a cheaper way to be part of it. Free vantage points that actually work, restaurants with real track views from $25, and three Singapore-only fashion drops that get you into the mood of the weekend for the price of a T-shirt.

Swipe ๐Ÿ‘‰ for where to watch for free, what to eat with a view, and the merch worth knowing about.

His mom had 21 strokes when he was only 15.

At that age, he didn't know what a stroke was, let alone what the hospital bills would add up to. One question stayed with him through all of it: where are we going to get the money from?

A few years ago, he saw Lendela on TikTok. One application matched him to a licensed lender suited to his situation, instead of him going bank to bank on his own.
In his words, it was the first time ever that help showed up when he needed it.

Myth: freelancers can't apply for a loan because they don't have a payslip.

Fact: proof of income can take a few different forms, invoices, bank statements, or your IRAS Notice of Assessment all count. Not having a traditional payslip doesn't rule you out.

It's payday ๐Ÿ’ธ Before the salary starts moving, here's the order worth following.

1๏ธโƒฃ Settle bills and repayments
Rent, utilities, credit cards and loans come first. Paying on time avoids late fees and keeps interest from building up, and it protects your credit record too.

2๏ธโƒฃ Top up your safety net
An emergency fund covers the unexpected, like a medical bill or a sudden job change. Aim for 3 to 6 months of expenses, and set aside a fixed amount every payday until you get there.

3๏ธโƒฃ Invest for later
Only invest once your bills are paid and your safety net is in place, and only with money you won't need in the short term. Options like Singapore Savings Bonds, CPF top-ups or a monthly ETF plan let you start small. What matters most is being consistent and giving it time to grow.

4๏ธโƒฃ Enjoy the rest
Whatever's left is yours to spend. Because the important things are already taken care of, you can enjoy it without doing mental maths at the checkout.

Moving your money as soon as it lands makes it harder to spend by accident. Save this for next payday too ๐Ÿ’š

The run club is free. Turn up, run, go home. ๐Ÿƒ

So how does a free hobby reach four figures a year?

Shoes last 500 to 800km. At 20km a week that's two pairs a year, and a Nimbus or Kayano is $259 before you even look at a carbon plate. Races charge you for timing more than distance: the same Singapore Marathon was about $137 early bird and about $197 on race day. Recovery adds up quietly, from $3.30 gels to $207 physio sessions.

But the biggest line item isn't any of that. It's the coffee after. Twenty dollars every Saturday is $1,040 a year, which is more than the shoes.

Weekly sport participation here went from 54% to 76% in a decade. The clubs are why.

Swipe ๐Ÿ‘‰ for the full year, line by line.

Save this for later, or send it to whoever you run with.

S$548 for a 3-day pass to watch cars pass by in about a second.

It might still be worth it, that's yours to decide. What's worth doing either way is a quick look at your options. No ticket needed to see your options race in. One application with Lendela matches you to licensed lenders side by side.
