Honored to share that Mahesh Kavinda, Director & Co-Founder of MetaLabs, had the privilege of meeting Air Vice Marshal Vajira Senadheera of the Sri Lanka Air Force.

What made this meeting especially meaningful was the history behind it. Air Vice Marshal Senadheera was the former Officer-in-Charge during Mahesh’s time in the 49th Intake of the Sri Lanka Air Force a formative chapter where leadership, discipline, commitment, and resilience were first shaped.

This visit was not only a professional engagement centered around the evolving role of technology in strengthening institutional capabilities and enhancing operational excellence, but also a personal tribute. Returning to the place where his journey in structured leadership and national service began was a moment of reflection and gratitude.

The discussion focused on how innovation, digital transformation, and responsible technology adoption can support mission-critical environments reinforcing the importance of collaboration between defense institutions and the private sector in building secure, future-ready systems.

We sincerely appreciate the time, mentorship, and insights shared. Some journeys begin in uniform but the values instilled continue to guide leadership far beyond it.

At Metalabs, we believe technology should not be limited by geography. Last week, our Tech Lead, Mishan Madhupa, led an AI adoption session for teachers at a rural school with limited facilities sharing practical ways AI can support lesson planning and personalized learning.

The focus wasn’t on replacing teachers, but empowering them. What stood out most was their eagerness to learn and create better opportunities for their students despite constraints.

Innovation matters. Inclusion matters more.

Beyond the celebration, the evening reflected the growing influence of Sri Lankan professionals globally and the importance of strengthening meaningful bridges between Sri Lanka and Singapore.
