Why do I begin with a warm colour wash all over the canvas?
It helps to understand the relationship between lights and darks better. Starting with a mid tone helps me understand how light my light should be and how dark the darks should be.. starting on a white canvas makes every colour look darker as white is the lightest colour.
Also I love some of the warm tiny bits show from under the painting
