Any request for service that entails us providing tips/advice/know-how will require a minimum of $38 payment upfront. This is necessary to discourage non-genuine request for advice, usually from parties looking to 'pick our brains' then use the information we provide for their own benefit.

People in IT, especially in the support function, very well know what we are talking about, when we mention this scenario. Often times, potential clients try their hardest to milk as much information as they can, Free of Charge, then start ghosting us upon getting the advice they need to pass on to a cheaper vendor, who is spared the brain work.
