Pro Light & Sound 2018
Well Pro Light and Sound 2018 in Frankfurt Germany has wrapped up for another year and this year was bigger and better for TLC Global with more Australian customers making the trek over for what is billed as the number one Production Trade Show around.TLC Global's Manufacturers' were well represented with large stands from German Light Products, Avolites, Di-Color, Light Sky, Smoke Factory, Ehrgeiz, Portman Custom Lights and LED Blade.
As usual our Manufacturers hospitality was free flowing to all our customers but the GLP bar again proved to be the place to be seen during happy hour each day. It proved so popular even Reps from other Aussie Distributors were often seen downing a cool German beer whilst taking in the best lighting demo show on the floor expertly designed and programmed by the team at Volt Lite.
The GLP stand and demo light show featured many new products including the new eye melting KNV Cube and KNV Arc fixtures for the first time and everyone that saw them were thoroughly impressed, social media can attest to this.
Also featured were the Industry standards of the JDC1 and X4 Bar 20 used to full effect in the Volt Lite show.
Rounding out the new fixtures were the S350 and the E350 fixtures, TLC was lucky enough to show the S350 to our customers on the Entech Roadshow earlier this year ahead of its official launch at Pro Light and Sound but the E350 was new to this show and it didn’t disappoint with amazing output and features this unit sets a new standard for its category of workhorse profiles.
Also dominating the demo show were six GLP Force 120 fans that were used to great effect showcasing that they are more than just a fan.
The PRG Stage demo show was also dominated by GLP Products with KNV Cube, KNV Arc, JDC1, X4 Bar 20 and Impression X4 and XL's used to great effect. Everyone was talking about the stage shake effect using just Bar 20's, check it out on a video of the show and you will know it when you see it.
Avolites stand was dominating with its focus on "Synergy" the unique interface between Lighting and Video control that brings all elements of a visual production back to a central control system. Also launching this years was Avolites AI Server Q3 that gives the end user an extremely powerful but costs effective AI platform that will sure to be a big hit with the Video and Lighting departments alike. Avolites stand was sleek and advanced with plenty of their signature Primary red being emitted from a bevy of LED Video screens and Lighting fixtures further emphasis on the "Synergy" between Lighting and Video.
Di-Color had visually stunning stand in hall 4 and didn’t disappoint with massive 3.6mm M Pro screens demonstrating the versatility of this frame. And much to many peoples surprise 99% of attendees commented on the Biggest LED screen at the show whether they knew it was Di-Color M Pro Panels or not. The screen parked in the outside PA Demo and Structure zone drew so many photos on social media as people were astounded by the clarity and size of the world's largest Mobile LED screen trailer at 16m x 9m and populated with Di-Color M Pro panels it was a big impact.
Smoke Factory kept the haze levels in Hall 3 topped up for the numerous lighting demos taking place there with an array of machines including the new 3100w Spock Fog Generator, this machine has an amazing and near silent output due to its newly designed output nozzles that reduce the output noise to near silent. Also on show was the high output Fan Fogger that delivers more Haze and Fog than you will ever need from a convenient Road cased Fogger and Fan combination that was a hit with the serious touring companies.
Portman Custom Lights were there in force again this year with an awesome display featuring a plethora of P1, P2 and the new P3 fixtures that ran a choreographed show every half hour showing what can be achieved just with white tungsten light.
Light Sky released their new IP2500 and IP3500 Beam fixture that draws from their ever popular and reliable Aquabeam to deliver a true IP65 rated beam light that packs the biggest punch possible with a fantastic new colour system and gobo set, displayed on the stand sitting under a constant water shower it lived up to its rating and was a hit. Light Sky's Theatrical series of CX42 LED Profiles and G300 Fresnel's were also on display showing the versatility and cost effectiveness of these units in any sized venue.
Light Sky's refined F230,330 & 450 Beam series was also on display, this line now gives you all the features you know and love in the F230 range but now gives you three lamp options all with identical feature sets and dmx profiles meaning an F230II can run next to an F440II and other than brightness they are operationally identical.
Ehrgeiz launched a few new products including the revamped Fusion Bar 2, the Fusion bar is well known in Australia and the new Fusion Bar 2 brings this much loved fixture in to today's technology expectations with 20x 15w RGBW cells and a body built for the rigours of touring life whilst also being IP65 this unit is sure to impress. Also out from Ehrgeiz is the new Baby Beam 7 that features 7x 30w RGFB LEDs with a 6 degree beam angle and optional lenses to give you 20,40,60 and a 60x10 degrees all in a German designed and manufactured IP65 housing that is both practical and attractive.
LED Blade had an informative stand that showcased the versatility and simplicity of their system including their new Artnet processor CRE:ON that makes life even easier when setting up the system.
In all it was a great show and the feedback from customers has been overwhelming.
Thanks to everyone who dropped by and had a beer (or three) with us.
