◌ Design, develop, and maintain robust, scalable, and efficient server-side applications and APIs using Go.
◌ Write clean, well-structured, and testable Go code.
◌ Develop and optimize database schemas and queries (relational and NoSQL).
◌ Optimize application performance, including database and API response times.
◌ Implement security best practices (authentication, authorization, secure coding).
◌ Integrate Go applications with frontend and third-party services.
◌ Develop and maintain RESTful and/or gRPC APIs using Go frameworks.
◌ Build and manage CI/CD pipelines for Go applications.

Employee Spotlight! 💡

Sometimes all you need to do is take the jump.

That's exactly what Jose aka Red did. In 2022 he was working an office job in Canada, dreaming of ways to return to his first love of writing. So he started publishing essays on Medium, a social platform for creatives. And as luck would have it, we stumbled across his work and figured his voice might fit the Nautilus brand.

With his deep background in customer service (having worked the front lines for a BPO in the Philippines and his years-long stint with a San Francisco startup doing chat and email support) he wrote articles that intertwined his personal experiences and practical applications of Nautilus' different cloud-based solutions.

After being onboarded as a full-time company copywriter in 2023, he played a key role in helping revamp our website, company documentation, and everything related to corporate communications. Moreover, he was in charge of designing print and digital materials that proved foundational to the expansion of the company.

And this expansion also entailed marketing campaigns, especially events. In his time with Nautilus, Red has also served as marketing coordinator, event organizer, logistics manager, photographer, and master of ceremonies for multiple webinars and in-person, co-branded events in Singapore and Malaysia with our tech partners Zendesk and Google Chrome Enterprise.

Red's story is a testament to the power of creativity and keeping an open mind. Because as is the case in corporate tech, wearing multiple hats is par for the course, and should be viewed less as a hindrance but a challenge in creativity— and even a pathway to professional growth.

During the holy month of Ramadan, we witnessed the strength, discipline, and devotion of our Muslim teammates as they observed their faith with quiet determination.

It was a beautiful reminder of the power of respect and unity, as the whole team came together in solidarity, even in the most minute things (like saying 1 hour break instead of lunch). And though our team is diverse in both religion and background, everyone was mindful, supportive, and respectful of one another's practices.

As the month comes to a close, we'd like to wish everyone a joyful and peaceful Hari Raya. May this season bring forgiveness, renewal, and be a cherished time with loved ones!

💡 Employee Spotlight 💡

Working for a fully remote team isn’t a walk in the park. 🙌

Such is the case for Maruf Ahmed, our front-end developer. Coming from a two-year tenure as frontend developer for Golden Infotech, a local Bangladeshi company, he stepped into Nautilus’ global team with wide eyes. He faced communication challenges from the get-go, but instead of letting that intimidate him he took it as an opportunity to learn, grow, and connect.

On day one, Maruf drove headfirst into his first major project— the Zendesk Chat System. Though this was completely unknown territory, he tackled issues from scratch, showcasing his ability to adapt and troubleshoot. His contribution produced remarkable results in record time.

Maruf’s next major milestone came in December 2023, when he played a pivotal role in our website redesign project. Tight deadlines were a constant hurdle, but Maruf never lost his cool. Whether it was turning complex UI concepts into interactive designs or collaborating with the content team under pressure, he proved that steady focus and hard work can beat any deadline.

He didn’t stop there— Maruf also contributed to the development of our own Billing System, a feature we’re planning to roll out to our users soon. He also redesigned our Reporting Portal, and is working on our Pricing Calculator (another project we’re hoping to roll out soon). These projects are key features designed to help improve our customer’s Nautilus Experience, and we couldn’t have done it without him.

Maruf’s story speaks to his determination— walking into a new environment, pushing past communication barriers, and embracing unfamiliar territory. With each project he completes, he is a living testimony to the power of grit, curiosity, and adaptability. That regardless of the daunting task at hand, having the right mindset leads to results. 💯

Best practices for establishing a remote contact center.

With half our team practicing Ramadan, we figured it would be a great idea to ask Rafeq, our Malaysia Sales Executive, for his best fasting practices.

🌅 Early Morning (Pre-dawn Meal)
Rafeq starts his day before sunrise, making sure to eat his Suhoor so he has enough energy for the fasting hours ahead.

🚰 2-4 Hydration Method
To beat thirst and avoid dehydration, Rafeq does the following:
After breakfast (Iftar): 2 cups of water
Evening to just before Sunrise: 4 cups of water spread out over the night
Right before Suhoor: 2 cups of water.

This helps maintain good hydration levels without feeling bloated.

🥥 Coconut water for Electrolytes
For an extra boost during suhoor and iftar, Rafeq drinks coconut water. Its natural electrolytes help him feel refreshed and rejuvenated especially on long, hot days.

💪 Staying busy and productive
Instead of counting down the hours until iftar, Rafeq keeps himself occupied. During lunch breaks, he takes naps to conserve energy. After work, he helps out the family with their meal preparation, allowing him to stay busy and focused on anything else but the hunger.

🚶‍♂️ Meditative Walks
Rafeq frequents local bazaars, which he visits to stock up on fresh produce, traditional snacks, and unique trinkets. The bazaars also have a very festive vibe, making the Ramadan experience more communal and engaging.

By following these tips, Rafeq stays energised, hydrated, and on-track to finishing his fasts successfully. Because at the end of the day, Ramadan is not just about fasting, but is a practice rooted on spiritual growth, personal reflection, moral accountability, and compassion. 🕌
