A call from me? Think again.

This is a simulation, but such impersonation scams do happen. A recent exploit used deepfakes of PM Lawrence Wong and Minister Indranee Rajah during a fake video conference. One victim lost S$4.9 million.

Scammers are growing more and more sophisticated, using deepfakes and AI to deceive victims. Any of us can be taken in and scammed.

Government officials, including Police officers, will never ask you to transfer money, hand over valuables, or disclose bank details through phone calls. And certainly not me!

If you are unsure, hang up immediately and check. Call the ScamShield Helpline at 1799 to verify.

Stay vigilant. Together, we can ACT against scams.

Singapore's security cannot be left to only the Singapore Police Force and the Internal Security Department, Coordinating Minister for National Security K Shanmugam said on Wednesday (Jul 29). Senior Minister Shanmugam said only a minority of people in Singapore reported suspicious items and vehicles during controlled social experiments.

"We have to have the population part of our eyes and ears," he said.
