You secured that job interview and you’re one step closer to getting that job! Aside from learning about the company and how it operates along with your potential new role, you may also be wondering what to wear to your interview. According to Forbes (2015), 95% of employers take into account the applicants appearance when making hiring decisions. What’s even more shocking is that 71% of those employers have admitted to turning away applicants who weren’t dressed appropriately.
So what is appropriate wear and why should I dress up for my interview? Dressing appropriately not only shows respect for the company along with showing you can adhere to the culture and industry norms. It’s important to make sure your clothes are clean cut, ironed and in good shape. Wearing tailored pieces is a great and easy way to make yourself look professional while also feeling confident, after all dressing to impress isn’t only about how others perceive you but rather how you feel about yourself. Steer clear of wearing any open toed shoes like slippers or sandals especially for the first interview. Once you’ve further established if the dress code at work is more casual you can absolutely settle into that! Good luck and go crush that interview!!
