Laylatul Qadr, often translated as the Night of Power or Decree, is considered one of the holiest nights in Islam. It falls within the last ten nights of Ramadan, with most scholars believing it to occur on an odd-numbered night, such as the 21st, 23rd, 25th, 27th, or 29th night of Ramadan.
Muslims believe that Laylatul Qadr is the night when the Quran was first revealed to the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) by Allah through the Angel Gabriel. It is a night of immense blessings, forgiveness, and spiritual significance. Worshipping on Laylatul Qadr is said to be better than worshiping for a thousand months.
Many Muslims spend the night in prayer, recitation of the Quran, supplication, and seeking forgiveness. Mosques are often filled with worshippers engaged in various acts of devotion. The atmosphere is one of deep spirituality and reflection.
Muslims believe that on Laylatul Qadr, Allah's mercy and blessings are abundant, and sincere prayers are more likely to be accepted. Therefore, it's a time for believers to seek forgiveness, to ask for guidance, and to pray for the well-being of themselves and others.
Despite the exact date of Laylatul Qadr being unknown, Muslims strive to seek it out during the last ten nights of Ramadan, especially on odd-numbered nights, through increased worship and devotion. The significance of this night underscores the importance of reflection, repentance, and drawing closer to Allah during the blessed month of Ramadan.
