When your display says ‘no signal’ but your Surface isn’t the problem.

The Surface Laptop 1 uses a Mini DisplayPort to connect to external monitors.
But over time, many users experience no display output or intermittent detection.

Here’s what usually causes it:
• ⚡ Physical port wear, frequent plugging and unplugging loosen the internal contacts.
• 🔌 Mainboard signal line failure, the Mini DisplayPort connects directly to the GPU lines; even a small crack or cold solder joint can cut the video signal.
• 💻 Driver or firmware mismatch, outdated Intel HD Graphics or Surface Dock firmware can prevent external display detection.
