In the realm of online dangers, there's a new way threat actors are causing harm - by turning a type of cyberattack into a step-by-step service for other threat actors to use. This change enables more people to try these attacks, therefore making it riskier for different parts of the internet.

The Play ransomware, formerly known as Balloonfly and PlayCrypt, has been transformed significantly into a Ransomware-as-a-Service (RaaS) model. A cybersecurity company’s investigation uncovered a consistent attack pattern across diverse sectors, suggesting that affiliates had bought the ransomware and followed the provided guides, using identical strategies and instructions. Initially, exploiting Microsoft Exchange Server vulnerabilities, Play stood out by involving its creators in the attacks and utilising specialised tools for data gathering. This transition to RaaS, offering extensive support to hackers of varying expertise levels raises concerns and presents a clear and present danger about an imminent surge in cyber incidents, prompting businesses and authorities to brace for an increasing wave of attacks in the ever-changing cyber threat landscape.

Thus, it is important that organisations implement robust cybersecurity practices and defence systems in place to minimise the risk of being a victim of a cyber-attack. The team of professionals at TRS are able to assist in strengthening your organisation’s cybersecurity by conducting Vulnerability Assessments and Pe*******on Testing (VAPT) to identify any weaknesses and providing solutions to fix them. Send us an email at [email protected] or drop us a message here!

In today's complex digital landscape, ensuring cybersecurity compliance is critical to organisations of all sizes and industries.

The article shares basic information about standards of cybersecurity compliance around the globe, emphasising its significance in safeguarding sensitive information and customer data. It highlights various compliance standards such as GDPR, SOC 2, ISO 27001, PCI DSS, HIPAA and Cyber Essentials (UK), outlining their relevance and requirements. Compliance varies across industries and can be complex but is crucial for preserving business reputation and risk mitigation.

As for the cybersecurity landscape in Singapore, we have the Data Protection Trustmark (DPTM) awarded by the Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA) as the gold standard for data protection. In the field of cybersecurity, the Cyber Security Agency (CSA) has certifications such as Cyber Essentials (CE) and Cyber Trustmark (CTM) to recognise organisations with good cybersecurity practices.

TRS have attained both the DPTM certification as well as the CTM Advocate Tier (the highest tier of the CTM). If your organisation wishes to enhance it’s standards of business by being certified in either data protection or cybersecurity, do contact us at [email protected] or send us a message here and our team of experts can guide you in the journey of being certified.

Most businesses in this current tech-dependent era rely on numerous software for the various business functions to carry out their daily operations. Although it allows for a lot of convenience, there are certain risks to it.

The article discusses a critical security flaw, CVE-2018-13379, affecting Fortinet FortiOS SSL, which has been consistently exploited by cyber attackers in the years 2020, 2021, and 2022. This year’s firm trip was a real blast! Over the weekend, we gathered as a firm in Kuala Lumpur! We had our biannual townhall in our Malaysian office where we discussed our business strategy for the rest of 2023. Many other activities followed which include dinners, drinks and also a separate breakout session. However, the real highlight was the endurance karting session we had on Saturday afternoon. Everyone involved had a great time filled with much fun, laughter and plenty of delicious food kindly recommend by our Malaysian colleagues! We would like to thank everyone from the TRS family for their participation and cooperation throughout this trip. Looking forward to our next firm trip in 2024!
