The 15-Minute City doesn’t exist.
Cities are wonderful and vibrant places 🤩
Concentration of creativity, diversity and innovation.
But our cities have become larger, urban functions have been spread out and we have lost the proximity between people, activity and places.
The way we move around in each car - is not only inefficient - but it also creates pollution and significant CO2 emissions.
For the sake of people and the sake of our planet, we need to redesign our cities 🙏
This is why the “15-Minute City” is a recent trend in urban planning, popularized by Carlos Moreno’s 2020 TED talk.
The 15 minute-city concept implies having all necessary amenities within a short walk, bike ride or public transit trip🚶♂️
Progressive cities like Paris, Madrid, Milan, Ottawa, and Seattle adopt the“15-minute city” as a planning policy.
But, many hurdles abound to its adoption 🤯
So, the first question we want to ask is: Does the “15’ City” really exist?
Can’t wait to hear the opinion of experts from leading building design and construction firms, city governments, and universities:
