The 15-Minute City is not the responsibility of the city planners.

The pandemic has caused us to think about how to move differently, to consume differently, to live differently.

We are discovering that by working differently we have more spare time, to have more time to be with our families or friends 👨‍👨‍👦

We are discovering and appreciating our neighborhoods much more ❤️

👉 This will make us all more engaged inhabitants.

The concept of 15-Minute City is to improve quality of life by creating cities where everything a resident needs can be reached within a quarter of an hour by foot or bike 🚲

Ensuring the creation of better cities will only be possible if leaders work together to share and deploy know-how, innovation, and promising approaches to accelerate the transition back to pedestrian-centric urban development.

But, maybe not only...

By making the 15-Minute City led by and above all for its inhabitants, creativity and wellbeing will flourish, pointing to the role of participatory budgeting, which since 2014 has allowed residents to vote on 5% of the municipal spending in Paris – totaling half a billion euros.

Top down vs bottom up: who is responsible for the 15’ City?

Register to the 15’ City Summit as we’ll talk about it with global industry experts in a 3 panel collaborative event.

The 15-Minute City doesn’t exist.

Cities are wonderful and vibrant places 🤩

Concentration of creativity, diversity and innovation.

But our cities have become larger, urban functions have been spread out and we have lost the proximity between people, activity and places.

The way we move around in each car - is not only inefficient - but it also creates pollution and significant CO2 emissions.

For the sake of people and the sake of our planet, we need to redesign our cities 🙏

This is why the “15-Minute City” is a recent trend in urban planning, popularized by Carlos Moreno’s 2020 TED talk.

The 15 minute-city concept implies having all necessary amenities within a short walk, bike ride or public transit trip🚶‍♂️

Progressive cities like Paris, Madrid, Milan, Ottawa, and Seattle adopt the“15-minute city” as a planning policy.

But, many hurdles abound to its adoption 🤯

So, the first question we want to ask is: Does the “15’ City” really exist?

Can’t wait to hear the opinion of experts from leading building design and construction firms, city governments, and universities:

▪️ Carlos Moreno, PANTHEON SORBONNE
▪️ Helene Chartier, C40 CITIES
▪️ Boudewijn Thomas, MVRDV
▪️ Philippe Chiambarretta, PCA-STREAM
▪️ Tiffany Chu, CITY OF BOSTON
▪️ Shweta Gandhi, AECOM
▪️ Chris Green, ERA-CO
▪️ Bige Tunçer, SUTD
▪️ Bryan Boyer, TAUBMAN COLLEGE
▪️ Anna Rose, SPACE SYNTAX
▪️ Sayjel Patel, DIGITAL BLUE FOAM

"Games provide a neutral ground for people from different backgrounds and can bridge the communication gap that may exist otherwise.

For my Master of Architecture thesis, I built a game titled Katakita. Derived from the word ‘Kata’ meaning ‘word’, and ‘Kita’ which means ‘us’, Katakita is a participatory planning tool for a more inclusive design process and output."

From chat-bots to alpha go, AI is becoming increasingly personalized and accessible in previously unthinkable ways.

But why do building designers need artificial intelligence? 🤔🤔🤔
