The cheapest place to find a mistake is here.

Prepress checks the artwork, then prints one proof sheet for the client to sign. Bleeds, colour, resolution, small type. What is on that sheet is what comes off the press.

Printing plates come next. After that, a colour that is off is not one bad sheet, it is the entire run, and the reprint is on us.
Episode 6. Plates next week.

Update on the lantern box. It folds!

The fix was not where we expected it. The shape and size were fine. The problem was in the tolerances, where the board was allowed to bend and how far it could travel.

Episode Five. Client has approved, so this one goes to print.
Stay tuned for the next one.

We failed, it doesn’t fold into a lantern.

Fortunately, we caught it early in the prototyping stage. We can still tweak the structure and make necessary adjustments without wasting valuable resources.

Episode four. Back to the drawing board; see what happens on the next one.

A box needs to open right, not just look good.

This is why it’s blank. No vivid colours, no striking patterns, nothing nice to look at. It is intentional, to make sure the focus is on whether the box works.

Episode three. A problem is coming; tay tuned for the next one.

How would a guest remember a wedding if not the gift they bring home?

A favour box is the last thing a guest holds on the day, and the only part of it that goes home with them.

So it is not built as an afterthought. The finish, the structure, the way it opens, all of it is made to match the evening it came from.

Elegant enough to keep. Not something that gets left on the table.

Which packaging made unboxing fun?

For nor sken, we went the extra mile in designing the packaging. The surprise is built into the box itself, not printed on the outside. It shows up in how the box opens.

And we also made the mailer box. The brown box that goes through shipping is the one the customer opens at home. No extra wrapper needed; premium feel preserved.

Unboxing is the first time a customer holds a brand in their hands. Most brands treat it as the wrapper. This one treats it as part of the product.

Same item inside. Very different experience.

Before a box exists, it is a flat sheet with lines on it.

That drawing is called a dieline. It maps every cut and every fold while the box is still flat, before anything goes into production.

Most boxes give you a little room to be off. This one does not. The folds have to hold the weight of the moon cakes, and the same sheet has to turn into a lantern.

One wrong measurement and none of it stands.

Episode two. Still building.

Saying ‘can’ is the easy part.

Then come the questions.
What size. What material. How it folds.

We ask all of that before we give a price.

This one is still in progress. Stay tuned to see how the box turns out!
