Many of us have connected IoT/smart home devices in our homes, such as wireless/Bluetooth thermostats/lighting, Amazon Alexa (and similar) devices, Ring doorbells, security cameras/systems, the list goes on and on. Once a bad actor gains access to one of those devices, they can potentially use that to get into everything else on our wireless networks, including our laptops and all the sensitive data. Or they could turn off security systems to assist burglaries, turn on cameras or take control of Alexa devices to monitor conversations.
