Protecting your backup system has been a hot topic ever since ransomware started encrypting and taking control of backup servers without a great defense. Still few backup vendors are talking about backing up your backup. Whether that be to another solution like S3 or sending data offsite, your backup server is still the weakest link in your environment.

With Rubrik CDM you are using an immutable filesystem, so it will be almost impossible to erase or encrypt your backup data. Combined with erasure coding, this also heightens your protection against hardware failure.

Several backup software have now enabled immutable filesystems for backup data, but not everyone protect the backup system from changing the ownership and control of the backup system. By enabling two-factor authentication, you have now protected yourself from unauthorized people to lock you out from your backup system.
