THE VINYL RECORD 70th ANNIVERSARY On June 21st, it is 70 years since Columbia Records released the first ever vinyl LP record, in 1948. This invention revolutionized the music industry and made great music recorded in high quality available to everyone. To this day we think that there is still something magical about dropping the needle on the record and hearing the music come alive.

Last night I experienced a fantastic and very rare opportunity here in Stockholm, to attend a concert with the legendary London based British 60's R&B Beat & Psychedelic group, The Pretty Things. - It was an outstanding concert and as vital as if it was 1966 again. Highly recommended if you get the chance to see them!

Great & Rare 1:st LP! Mono. wobc. Track 1 on side 1 skips - the rest plays very good !

�On the 6th of February the rocket Falcon Heavy was launched with destination Mars. Instead of a traditional ballast, SpaceX opted for sending a red Tesla Roadster with a crash dummy by the name of Starman sitting in the front seat.

As a soundtrack for the expedition David Bowie’s breakthrough single “Space Oddity” from 1969 was chosen and will be played on the Tesla’s speakers during the journey.

Space was an obsession for David Bowie and it can be noticed in songs such as “Life on Mars”, “Moonage Daydream” and many more. In 2013 the astronaut Chris Hadfield recorded a tribute to Bowie of him playing “Space Oddity” while floating around the International Space Station.

Today is "The day of the vinyl record" in Sweden and because of this I want to write something about my great hobby that became my profession 40 years ago when i founded The Golden Oldies Shop. It was the first vinyl store for record collectors in Scandinavia, and was the start of a movement.
Since I started collecting 50 years ago I have learnt most of what there is to know about pressings and editions, genres and artists, and yet I always want to learn more. In the digital world of today I find vinyl more relevant than ever. It is a tactile experience that Spotify and Itunes lacks and when the needle hums along the record grooves it is almost like the music come alive. Vinyl records are something you can touch, feel and collect.

The Rolling Stones concert I saw here in Stockholm on Thursday October 12th bring back memories of the very first Rolling Stones concert I saw in Stockholm on Sunday April 3rd 1966 at Kungliga Tennishallen. That concert gave me a memory for life as I already was a big Rolling Stones fan. Imagine that it was more than 51 years ago, and that both I and 3 of the original Rolling Stones members are still in the music business !

The Rolling Stones vs. The Beatles is perhaps rock music's greatest rivalry, always competing to be the biggest band of their generation. But something few people know is that they were very good friends and that one of the Rolling Stones first hits, “I Wanna Be Your Man” in 1963, was a cover of a song written by John Lennon and Paul McCartney.
