I know it's been a while! :) Just uploaded a new video on YT, it's a bout the Sega Game Gear and its unique features that makes the device more powerful than your typical 8-bit machine. I hope you enjoy the content. Now I will continue working on Unsung for the rest of the day. 😉 And hopefully I will have some new content to post on that soon as well!

Unrelated to the game projects, but Mikael Kallioniemi posted a quick draw of one of his drawing. I always find these intriguing since it showcase process processes of making digital art. :) Hope you guys enjoy it!

Hi guys, Sorry for the long absence on social media. I have been tinkering around with a lot of projects, and this fully featured youtube episode is one such thing! I hope you enjoy it. It's definitely my most ambitious video yet. :) And don't worry, Unsung is still under development and you will receive news on that in the coming weeks as well. This video will take you down memory lane, and explore the difficulties of video game ports/development during the early 90's. I hope you've all had a wonderful christmas and a good start of the new year! Kind regards /Dennis

- A NEW VIDEO UPLOADED - "My top 5 video game inspirations". check it out at: https://youtu.be/w2NMilFgoaE
(The video below is just there to get you in the mood) ;)

This episode contains a healthy dose of nostalgia, going back to 80's and 90's of video games. Unfortunately the video project file got corrupted and after several days of delay, we realized that we wouldn't have time to finnish it up. Instead we uploaded an old unfinnished version of the video, we figured it would be better posting something rather than nothing. :)

since it's , and I am not quite ready with the enemy interactions yet, I figured I can show off the attack combos and the moveset of the cat: running, sprinting, jumping (long jump/high jump/double jump combo system) dodging (roll- or back flip), air dodge/dash. wall sliding, wall jumping. attacking (ground and air) The only thing I forgot to showcase is that you can go from wall sliding to a back dash as well. And I'm also thinking of adding a attack from the wall sliding. All movements allow sequence breaking. it's been a pain to get all the animations right. But think it was worth it in the end. Everything flows so seamlessly now. :)

Sorry for the delay guys! This video became much longer than I expected! Follow me as I talk about my long break with Unsung, The game engine upgrade, the pros, the cons and struggles. My trip to South Korea/Japan and the current development of Unsung.

Hope you like it! Next time I will try to release a more professional, featured episode. unfortunately that has to wait another 3 weeks since I need to focus on development as well! :)

Cheers!

Alright everyone! I guess this is the start of me becoming a "youtuber" hahaha. I'm extremely uncomfortable and hopefully this whole thing will come way more naturally to me in the future! Be sure to check out the video, subscribe, like, share... or no, don't share, wait until there's a better video out there🤣 This is just a short introduction video, going through the idea behind Pixel Shade and why I finally took the leap to start a youtube channel (for real this time).

Hope you will enjoy it! I feel like this will be a great opportunity to connect with you guys and post much more in-depth info about game development and life in general in the future!

Anyway, Hope to see you there!
Cheers guys!

A work in progress scene where our hero will have his first "fika" with the mechanic :)

18/07/2020

Remade the airport, it is still far from finnished. The Mechanic (pig) is a tribute to Hayao Miyazaki who has always been an amazing inspiration these last couple of years. I have learnt so much from studying his work at Studio Ghibli. Hope you like it and it doesn't come across as a cheap copy xD /Dennis - Lead developer

Latest addition: Positional environmental sounds. Listen with headphones and see if you can spot them all. :) there's a total of 9 sounds

The next scene at 0:55 showcases how you can traverse the environment effectively without using the lifts (once the cat gains the abilities to do so) ;)

Music made by Gustav Sigling.
Background artwork made by Mikael Kallioniemi in collaboration with Dennis Ramberg.
