ThinLinc

ThinLinc ThinLinc is a Remote Linux Desktop Server. Your local experience anywhere you want it.

ThinLinc is a remote desktop server that can be installed on Linux computer. To this server you can connect application servers to enable users to get for example Windows Desktops or to share the load. Accessing your system remotely in this way is much smoother than access via X-over-ssh and gives you extra features such as access to local drives and printers. If you connect to a ThinLinc server f

rom a thin (or fat) client at work, you can also access your current session from home just a it looked with all the windows the same as when you left it. ThinLinc clients are available for most systems and you can even use a web browser as a client. A giveaway may have a winner, but the real prize is what the community shares along the way.

In June, we launched our first-ever ThinLinc Community Forum Promotional Giveaway. After looking at the contributions and participation of our community over the past couple of months, Aaron selected Harjinder as our winner.

His hands-on updates (from HA broker clusters and reverse proxy configurations to MFA and real-world testing) are exactly the kind of practical knowledge that can help another ThinLinc user solve a problem faster.

Congratulations, Harjinder! A huge thank you as well to all 1,356 members of our community for being part of the conversation.

Harjinder also shared his reaction to the win on LinkedIn. We're deeply grateful for his contributions and excited to see what the community brings next.

And yes... keep an eye out for future giveaways.

Sometimes, the right partnership starts with a simple question: where are our customers moving their workloads? For Johan Igheimer, the answer became clear as Microsoft Azure expanded its Linux VDI and HPC capabilities.

With more Linux workloads moving to the cloud, Cendio saw an opportunity to bring over 20 years of ThinLinc expertise into a new environment, combining Azure's cloud infrastructure with Cendio's Linux specialization.

Today, ThinLinc is available as a certified image on the Microsoft Azure Marketplace, enabling organizations to bring the same Linux desktop experience they trust directly into the cloud.

As Johan puts it: "We need to meet the tech teams where their data is moving."

And sometimes, that's where the next chapter begins.

📍PEARC 2026 | Some of the best conversations happen beyond the stage.

Recently, Robert Henschel represented ThinLinc USA at PEARC (Practice & Experience in Advanced Research Computing), one of the leading conferences for HPC and research computing in the United States, bringing together universities, research labs, and technology leaders to share practical advances in the field.

Hosted at the Cambridge Computer partner pavilion, the event was a great opportunity to connect with the HPC community, exchange ideas, and discuss how ThinLinc helps researchers and organizations deliver secure, high-performance Linux desktops.

As Robert puts it: "PEARC is where the research computing community comes together to share practical advances in HPC."

We're proud to be part of these conversations and grateful to everyone who stopped by to meet the ThinLinc team.

At Cendio, we believe our greatest strength is the people behind ThinLinc. Watching our team grow and welcoming new talent along the way is one of the most rewarding parts of our journey.

At the beginning of July, we're excited to welcome Mikael Holm, who has joined Cendio as our new Development Manager. In his own words, "I'm really looking forward to taking on this new challenge and growing with it", and we're just as excited to have him on board.

Welcome to the team, Mikael! We can't wait to see what we'll build together. 💙

A great Linux workspace starts long before users log in. That's why we're excited to welcome 10ZiG Technology as a new ThinLinc technology partner.

By combining ThinLinc's high-performance Linux Server-Based Computing platform with 10ZiG's purpose-built endpoint solutions, organizations gain a complete end-to-end Linux workspace, from endpoint to data center.

Together, this partnership helps organizations:

🔹 Deliver a true Linux-to-Linux desktop experience
🔹 Strengthen endpoint security with lightweight, stateless devices
🔹 Reduce infrastructure and endpoint management costs
🔹 Simplify administration through centralized management
🔹 Support secure remote work across education, research, engineering, manufacturing, government, and enterprise environments

As Tom Dodds, Global Strategic Alliances Manager at 10ZiG, puts it:

"By integrating the ThinLinc client directly into PeakOS and RepurpOS, we're giving customers the ability to deploy a true Linux-to-Linux workspace while also supporting Windows-based endpoints where needed."

At Cendio, we're proud to welcome 10ZiG to the ThinLinc ecosystem and look forward to helping even more organizations simplify secure Linux desktop delivery.

At Cendio, knowledge doesn't live only in our products. It lives in the conversations our team has every day with customers, partners, developers, researchers, and IT leaders around the world.

That's why we're launching — a series dedicated to sharing perspectives from the people behind ThinLinc.

For our first edition, Jean Zagonel reflects on a topic that has recently sparked many discussions across the industry: the end of life of HP Anyware.

For more than a decade, PCoIP has been the benchmark for delivering demanding Linux workloads. With HP's EOL announcement, many organizations are now evaluating what comes next.

Jean's perspective is that this moment is about more than replacing one remote access technology with another.

It's an opportunity to rethink architecture.

Rather than moving toward isolated 1-to-1 workstation deployments, organizations can revisit the benefits of centralized Server-Based Computing: scalability, operational efficiency, simplified management, and greater independence from proprietary ecosystems.

These are the kinds of conversations that help move our industry forward.

More voices from the Cendio team coming soon.

ARM64 support took another important step forward with the release of the ThinLinc 4.21.0 Client. Now, we're looking ahead: native ThinLinc Server support for ARM64 is officially under active development.

As Samuel Mannehed shares in our community, the foundational work is complete. The next step is understanding what matters most to you.

Which ARM platforms are you planning to use? AWS Graviton? Ampere? On-premises servers? Would you be interested in early testing?

Join the conversation by reading Samuel's full post and sharing your ideas, needs, and suggestions with us:
