Waste is the opposite of sustainability, and we are proud to develop crew and fleet management solutions that minimize waste in the form of inefficiencies, flight delays, and crew frustrations.

In Göteborg, we are trying to minimize our operational footprint, and this work is documented in our yearly sustainability report, the latest which have been published recently.

We are very proud to have supported the intensive care unit at Karolinska University Hospital, the second largest hospital in Sweden, when they needed immediate help a couple of weeks ago.

Hospital administrators faced an urgent need to significantly increase staff while simultaneously adapting to new working-time and pay agreements. When contacted by the hospital, a business consulting team began working to adapt Crew Rostering for the hospital environment. In less than a week, the Jeppesen Boeing team incorporated personnel data, a “crisis situation” union agreement for providers and other factors into the tool, completed a number of optimization runs and produced over 300 individual schedules.

“Transforming our Crew Rostering solution for a completely new sector in such rapid fashion was a remarkable achievement,” said Peter Andersson, Director of Crew Management for Boeing. “I appreciate all the work and long hours that our team gave to make this project a success. I am grateful for the support we received from our technology partner FICO with the Xpress Solver, and my heartfelt gratitude to the nurses and other personnel at Karolinska University Hospital for their efforts to care for all the COVID-19 patients.”

Jeppesen’s Crew Rostering application is normally used to help commercial airlines schedule pilots and flight crews, factoring in complex data such as crew fatigue, union rules and legal regulations about flight hours.

Last week, Jeppesen Boeing participated in the CHARM student fair at Chalmers University of Technology. The two days were filled with good conversations with interested students, some of who will hopefully become future colleagues.
A big thank you to this year’s fantastic CHARM team, including Avantika Kondel in the photo below!

Our Halloween office puzzle was a bit trickier this year, forcing people to think harder and even more outside the box than normal. After some great teamwork, the wearable prizes came to good use! 🎃😄

A big thank you to our Social Committee and all the participants for a fun event!
