Ethan Brooke has reviewed the Aeropulse A200-CO2, which uses our S12 sensor. After co-locating and calibrating the monitors, he found that its CO₂ readings closely followed those from an S8-based AirGradient monitor and a Sunrise-based Aranet4 Home.

He describes S12 as “a substantial step forward in terms of size and power consumption” at its target price point, building on what he calls “the gold standard of CO2 sensing.”

The review includes the comparison plots and calibration procedure. These are informal checks between monitors, without a laboratory reference.

Many applications seek low power consumption, but who would actually look for a sensor with high power consumption?

Well, take a greenhouse, for example. Condensation is part of the design problem, as water on the optical surfaces can absorb infrared light and interfere with the CO₂ measurement. Our GH sensors use internal heating to help prevent condensation and limit these effects. That means higher power consumption, but it serves a purpose.

Let us help you design your next product!

Useful ventilation data starts with accurate sensors, proper placement and calibration. Interpreting the readings also means accounting for outdoor CO₂ levels, occupancy and airflow.

A classroom and a meeting room, for example, can need different CO₂ targets because the people, activities and ventilation requirements differ. A single threshold won’t suit every application.

It’s worth working through these questions early in your design, while you can still adjust the sensor choice, placement and control strategy.
