What is Microtrenching?
Microtrenching is the practice of laying cables such as fiber optics in a narrow and shallow trench cut into roads and other surfaces. This is done as a cost-effective alternative to standard utility tunnels and trenches that are costly and slow to construct.
Size
A micro trench is typically 3 to 13 centimeters wide (1 to 5 inches) and up to 50 centimeters (20 inches) deep.
Cables
Microtrenching uses a direct-buried cable with a durable design that may include multiple layers of the sheath, filler armor, shock absorbing gel and a reinforced center.
