Releasing updated MP3 FPGA image. No new features were added, but significant improvements: (1) clocking redesigned, now DAC is clocked at native MP3 file speed (48k or 44.1k), (2) same sample timing confusion issue as in regular image was fixed.

In my opinion sound is better now, but still has aliasing on the lower frequencies. I did not deeply deal with it, and suspect it is a "feature" of architecture/fixed point math/small form factor of the MP3 decoder, and can not be overcome with simply tuning something wrong.

And it is version 0.12 now so machine does not complain about difference of versions on startup :)

Releasing improved regular FPGA image for GR8NET - 20210705.

New version of GR8NET firmware it out (both FPGA and ROM must be updated). Most notable updates are: MSX-Audio BIOS, browser supporting 65535 links (in contrast with ~255 before), mapper mode 8 has 720k RAM disk space to load full-size RAM images (was 360k before). And of course some other improvements and fixes. Manual was updated accordingly.

Releasing GR8NET firmware v.0.12. Notable changes: audio mixer reworked, controls changed to logarithmic, audio dynamic range compression, new commands NETMRESET and NETVARWAVE, boot-up menu has audio and mapper profiler. New version of manual is available on the website.

Feedback is highly desired.

There will be audio volume tuning tool released in some time based on VGMPLAY (will be announced separately).

Nestor Soriano has made another deed: right now have tested new experimental build of his Nextor kernel, and it works perfectly in phantom drive configuration. So now I can say there's fully working single floppy drive -> two logical floppy drives configuration in DOS2 mode!

GR8BIT MSX booting from 3.5", 5.25" and hard disk drive! Work is still in progress.

This is a demonstration of the functionality of GR8BIT's new I/O board and its firmware. It can boot (and work with, in general) with 3.5" diskettes of 720k ...

Releasing new update for GR8NET 20200219: exFAT FS support, STOP keypress during video and SD-card audio playback, NETPLAYWAV seeking within the WAV or MP3 file, ID3 parsing and display. New update.bin, MP3 FPGA image, and manual uploaded (list of updates are at the very end of the manual). Bug reports welcome.

Publishing new "make MSX video" application http://www.gr8bit.ru/software/video/make-msx-video-app.zip programmed in .NET, thus not requiring MS/Excel and able to work cross-platform. It is not GUI, but command line though.

Here's the end product. Composite is not perfect, but acceptable enough - it is possible to recognize text when in 80 char mode :) Interesting that PAL mode looks better than NTSC, I expected otherwise.
