It is often said that the most sustainable building is the one that already exists.

But what happens when an existing building goes through a thoughtful retrofit process designed to maximize its energy efficiency?

This is where the real challenge begins.

We are excited to start another collaboration with Annterior Studio — a project that will bring many challenges, valuable knowledge, and, of course, great satisfaction.

Some houses aren’t empty.
They’re just waiting.

This is one of our current projects — a home started by someone who loved this place deeply, but couldn’t finish it.

Now we’re transforming it into 3 warm, energy-efficient and thoughtful homes.
Not by erasing its past, but by building carefully on top of it.

We’ll be sharing the whole process — from redesign to construction.

Follow us if you’re curious about what can happen when you give a space a second chance.

We all know the word “sustainability” by now — but sometimes it feels like a too used term that lost its meaning.

For us, architecture isn’t just about reducing impact or ticking boxes.

It’s about being truly conscious — of history, nature, people, and the future we’re shaping.

In this series, we share what "conscious architecture" means to us:

from listening to old houses and preserving their stories,

to designing buildings that breathe with the seasons,

to creating spaces that nurture both people and the life around them.

Because for us, it’s a way of being in the world.

We rarely talk about who we are. Most architecture studios don’t.

But between projects, slow progress, and the long cycle of architecture, we thought it’s time.

This is the story behind Cerc Studio.

It started with late-night ideas, long walks, and a shared belief that design can do more.

Not just a business.

Not just an ego exercise.

But a system of collaboration, care, and regeneration — built project by project, and person by person.

Cerc is not just a studio.

It’s a flexible collective that adapts to each challenge.

Rooted in values, but open to change.

This is how we work. This is what drives us.

Pushing beyond the basics, this carousel shows how thoughtful design—like bio‑based insulation, airtight envelopes, passive solar control, upcycled paving, and native landscaping—turns projects into genuinely low‑impact developments.

Architects must go the extra mile to challenge, convince, and promote greener strategies for their clients.

Feeling like your house turns into a sauna every summer? You’re not imagining it. The way your home is designed — from window placement to wall materials and ventilation — plays a massive role in how hot it gets inside.

Whether you’re building new or living in an older place, understanding these factors can make a huge difference in your comfort and energy bills.

Swipe through to learn why your home heats up and what practical steps you (or your architect) can take to keep things cool — no magic tricks, just smart design backed by experience.

Got questions or curious about making your space more comfortable? Drop a comment or DM us — let’s chat!

Save this for later when you want to beat the heat the smart way.

For the past few months, we’ve been supporting the House Europe initiative and we’ve been promoting it whenever we get the chance — to family, friends, clients, and basically every stakeholder we work with.

We think what really pushed us to speak up for this initiative is the fact that Romania has been living with the trauma of demolitions for the past 80 years: during the communist period, after that too, and most often now when investors want to squeeze more out of a site or a city than it can actually take. We’re used to having our memories erased, our neighborhoods cut out, our houses left to die — just so something else can be built in their place. Bigger, more concrete, more glass, more polystyrene.

This is our story in Romania. But every EU country has its own story — its own perspective, an urgent need, and a real opportunity to protect both its people and its buildings.

So, this initiative is trying to make governments take real action to protect the existing built heritage and make it more affordable to renovate spaces.

The main pillars of the initiative are:
• tax incentives for renovation works and for projects where materials are reused
• clear criteria for assessing the risk and potential of existing buildings (right now, most building codes barely differentiate between existing buildings and new ones)
• taking into account the embodied CO2 in existing structures (which is very different from the CO2 of demolishing an old building and then building a new one on top of that)

Sign it and share it! It’s actually really important!

Yesterday, after a full day of work, we attended our very first event focused entirely on architecture – and the first in what’s looking like a long and exciting series.
The event was hosted by the as part of the Green Week – a major initiative promoting sustainability in construction.

And it was… wow.

It kicked off with a presentation by .es from Barcelona, who introduced a house made entirely of biomaterials, perfectly adapted to its environment. Every detail was carefully designed to offer the clients a healthy home – for them and for future generations.

Then came a roundtable with professionals from the field, openly discussing the role of architects, authorities, and users. The stories shared and the opportunities mentioned gave us that exact kind of boost that reminds you why you love doing this work.

To wrap it up, during the networking session, we met our collaborators from , shared ideas, and got to know their products even better.
We also had the chance to speak with Jade from SlowStudio about how to find your “tribe” – the kind of people who believe in the same values you do.

And of course… we talked about .eu. At this point, we’re probably one conversation away from printing QR codes on our foreheads.

Thanks to everyone for the openness, the ideas, and the inspiration. It was a truly energizing beginning. More to come!

We are currently working on the renovation and structural consolidation of a house located in a protected area of Bucharest.

The building, altered by uncoordinated interventions, features elements characteristic of the Mediterranean style—a lesser-known but well-represented aesthetic in 1930s Bucharest. The small tower, cantilevered volumes, and gently sloping roof are some of the defining details of this architectural language.

Our proposal integrates textures typical of the city, softens the building’s edges, reintroduces decorative elements that bring life to the façade, and incorporates greenery to create a balance between past and present.

Follow us to see the project come to life!
