What does sustainability actually mean when it comes to software?

It's a question that sounds simple until you start pulling at it.
And last year, we sat down with one of our colleagues, Silvia, who had spent the better part of her master's year researching just that, trying to understand what it really looks like to build digital products that are efficient, ethical, and responsible not just in theory, but in every decision that shapes them from the first line of code to the infrastructure that keeps them running.

Today, on World Environment Day, felt like the right moment to bring that answer back up.

It may feel long ago, but there was a version of you that sat at a toy just like this and felt limitless. Technology grew up with us and took us places we couldn't have predicted. But it was never the tool that made the difference, it was the belief behind it.

Hold onto that.

Our partnership with TreasurUp spans almost a decade of shared challenges, evolving ambitions, and a mutual belief that financial technology can be made smarter for the banks that rely on it.

This spring marked the third edition of our AI hackathon, and with each year, the focus sharpens. This time, colleagues from both the R&D and TreasurUp teams came together for two days with one question at the center of it all: how can AI meaningfully enhance the TreasurUp product? The spotlight was firmly on agentic features, exploring how intelligent agents, machine learning, and LLMs can take the product to the next level. It started as 6 focused topics and it ended up growing into something much bigger.

Like every hackathon at COERA, this one came with a theme as well - a character from literature or comics that sets the tone for the days ahead. There's a surprising amount of foresight in those stories about where technology and human ambition can take us.

This edition belonged to the Avengers, and it felt fitting, because what happened over those two days was very much a team effort, with promising solutions delivered by the end of it.

In the posts ahead, we'll take you deeper into what we built and the journey that brought us here. 🛡️

Last week we shared how it all started - the team, the energy, and what brought us together for two days of AI exploration with TUI Travel. Today, we're taking you a step further, into what actually came out of it.

Four teams, four challenges, all centered around one big question: how can AI meaningfully improve the way people experience the exploration of travel options? From the moment a traveler types a search, to the content that greets them, to the conversation that helps them find where they truly want to go - every direction we explored was a different piece of the same puzzle.

Swipe through to see what we built and what it feeds into 360bc, the platform that sits at the core of our partnership with TUI. ✈️

Today, April 6, is the International Day of Sport for Development and Peace, and when you work in software development, one of those words in particular tends to catch your attention.

(that's right, it's peace) 😉

Joke aside, this day is really a celebration of what sport does for people and communities - how it builds resilience, bridges differences, and brings out the best in us, one race, match, or uphill trail at a time.

Over the past few months, we've been making space for different kinds of sports - table tennis, football, foot tennis, kayaking, hiking - because physical wellbeing and good work are not two separate conversations.

Swipe to see what our team looks like off-screen - and what sport keeps teaching us about the work we do every day. ⬇️

Our partnership with TUI Travel is one of the longest and most meaningful collaborations we’ve had - 12 years, meaning no less than twelve 360 rotations around the Sun. It started back in 2014 with a content management system that became one of the cornerstones of our early journey, and it has kept evolving ever since, much like the industry we've been building for together.

When Edwin and Jan from the TUI team came to town last week for an AI Hackathon, it felt exactly like a long-awaited reunion. The kind where conversations pick up mid-sentence and the excitement of building something together feels just as fresh as it did at the very beginning.

Like every hackathon at COERA, this one came with a theme - a literary or comic character that sets the creative tone before a single line of code is written. This edition belonged to Nils Holgersson, Selma Lagerlöf's wide-eyed wanderer who soared over the world on the back of a wild goose, seeing familiar landscapes with entirely new eyes. It was a fitting metaphor for what we set out to do together.

In the posts ahead, we'll take you deeper into the ideas that emerged and the path that brought us to this moment.

Fasten your seatbelts. The Hackathon journey is just getting started. ✈️

Last weekend, our colleague Mihai stood at the starting line of the WizzAir Marathon in Cluj-Napoca and actually got to cross the finish line, something that, not long ago, would have felt impossible to him.

What stayed with him afterward wasn't really the finish line, but everything that led to it - the process of taking something that felt out of reach and breaking it down until it wasn't anymore.

And that's what resilience can look like. More than a one-time act of willpower, it is a practice, built slowly, sustained over time. The same principle applies to the goals that matter most, whether personal or collective: nothing meaningful is built in a single push. It's built by showing up, again and again, for something you're not sure you're ready for.

It turned out Mihai was. Well done, Mihai! 👏

Over the years, our partnership with Technical University of Cluj-Napoca has grown into something we genuinely look forward, and Career Days week is the fullest expression of that. Across a week in March, we're involved in round table discussions at the university, group coaching sessions, and interview simulations that give students a taste of what stepping into the industry actually feels like.

But the highlight, every single time, is products exhibition day.

In the middle of the week, between classes, students fill up the hallways. They stop by our booth, ask questions, pick up a flyer and somewhere in those corridors, meaningful conversations happen. About our company, our projects, the practice programs we run, and what a first step into this field might look like for them.

What makes it special is that it's not just new faces, because every year we reconnect with students we've crossed paths with before. Some still studying, some who've since moved on to build careers of their own at the University and beyond.

It was really great to be back there yesterday. Looking forward to next year. 💙

Yesterday, we packed up and headed to Cluj Innovation Park for UBB's Practice Workshop.

We were there to talk about our company and our summer practice program in Software Engineering, and somewhere between those conversations, it became clear again why these moments are worth showing up for. You meet people at the very beginning of something - curious, a little uncertain, full of potential -, and you get to be a part of what shapes where they go next.

If you stopped by our stand yesterday, it was lovely to meet you!

And if you missed us, don't get too sad. We'll be at UT Career Days next week, March 18. Come find us. ☺️

Every season carries an invitation, and spring's has always been quite generous: grow, bloom, begin again. 𖡼.𖤣𖥧𖡼.𖤣𖥧

Last week, we accepted it, with little helpers, pink gloves and all. We gathered around a table full of flowers and, somewhere between choosing stems and figuring out what goes where, something shifted.

It started as a lighthearted workshop, and it became a colorful proof that creativity isn't a talent you're born with or without, it's something that surfaces when you give it space. When you slow down, use your hands, and let yourself make something without knowing exactly how it will turn out.

And as it turns out, mugs are just vases that haven't found their flowers yet.

Really grateful for welcoming spring this way! 🌷
