Behind every BMW iX3, there is a piece of Cluj.
Last week, our BMW TechWorks Romania Platform & Standardization team visited the Debrecen plant to better understand the production processes and digital solutions supporting the BMW iX3.

What makes this special?

Every iX3 battery produced is validated by solutions built, delivered, and operated from Cluj. So far, our systems have checked the quality and validity of more than 96 million battery cells, helping ensure the reliability of one of BMW’s key electric vehicles.
Over two and half intensive days, the team focused on strengthening critical solutions used in Debrecen and across the BMW production network, while exploring how Agentic AI can elevate the next generation of shopfloor digital capabilities.

By combining firsthand plant experience with AI-driven innovation, we are shaping a smarter way to build, operate, and continuously improve manufacturing software.
A big thank you to Zsuzsana Kovacs, Javier Ortega Llamas, Daniel Boros, and all colleagues from the plant for their openness, insights, and support.

Every great journey starts with a dream, and is powered by dedication, resilience, and countless hours of hard work.
Today, before heading into a 10-day training camp and then on to the Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games, we had the pleasure of welcoming Tunde Crisan to BMW TechWorks Romania.
At just 16 years old, Tunde has already achieved remarkable results in international triathlon and will soon represent Romania on one of the biggest stages in youth sports.
We’re proud to support her journey and wish her the very best in the weeks ahead.
Good luck, Tunde. We’ll be cheering for you every step of the way! 🇷🇴🚴‍♀️🏊‍♀️🏃‍♀️

The opening of this year’s DevTalksRomania Cluj Napoca was a disruptive moment, especially for developers.

Building on John Kotter’s Our Iceberg Is Melting, Emil Petru, our CEO, highlighted the growing need for personal and organizational change in the age of AI.

Concepts such as Creative Destruction, Jevons paradox, Muda, and Parkinson’s law suddenly feel less like management theories and more like signals of a world being rewritten in real time.

The panel that followed continued the conversation, diving into some of today’s most pressing challenges: team structures, junior talent, efficiency, speed, quality, and effectiveness.

Continuing the discussion from an engineering perspective, Alexandru-Catalin Dinis, our CTO, challenged us to rethink how systems operate when AI can reason, diagnose, and support decisions at a scale that was previously impossible.

Perhaps the most important question is no longer whether AI will transform the way we work.

The question is whether we can evolve faster than our core belief systems.

Yesterday, we celebrated the successful go-live of 𝗩𝗲𝗵𝗶𝗰𝗹𝗲 𝗙𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿.𝗡𝗘𝗫𝗧 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗠𝗜𝗡𝗜 𝗔𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗮, marking an important milestone for our FAITH team (First AI Team of The Hub) at BMW TechWorks Romania.

But this launch is about more than delivering a product. It’s about 𝗿𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗵𝗼𝘄 𝘄𝗲 𝗯𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱 𝘀𝗼𝗳𝘁𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗲.

As our first AI-native team, FAITH is pioneering a new approach to software development, integrating AI agents into everyday workflows and turning innovation into real-world impact.

𝗢𝘄𝗻𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽. 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗶𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁. 𝗜𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗰𝘁. Three words that define the mindset behind this achievement.

We had the pleasure of welcoming German Consul Wiebke Oeser to BMW TechWorks Romania.

Hosted by our CEO, Emil Petru, and our COO, Marian Haus, the visit offered a great opportunity to share insights into BMW TechWorks Romania, our growing tech community and our role within the BMW Group’s digital ecosystem.

A valuable exchange of perspectives and another meaningful connection between Germany and Romania, right here in Cluj. 🤝

𝗕𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗺𝗲𝗲𝘁𝘀 𝗜𝗧. 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗴𝘆 𝗺𝗲𝗲𝘁𝘀 𝗰𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗯𝗼𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻.

Last Friday, we welcomed an important BMW Group 𝗙𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗦𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝗰𝗲𝘀 delegation to BMW TechWorks Romania bringing leadership, Business and IT together around a shared direction.

We were pleased to welcome Alexander Buresch, Head of BMW Group Financial Services, François Mauri, Head of Operations BMW Group Financial Services, Carsten Sapia , Head of IT Financial Services, and John Conway, Head of Operations Europe.

One of the highlights of the visit was our 𝗕𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 & 𝗜𝗧 𝗧𝗼𝘄𝗻𝗵𝗮𝗹𝗹, an opportunity to exchange perspectives on strategic priorities, international collaboration and the role our colleagues in Cluj play in supporting the ambitions of BMW Group Financial Services.

From Business & IT strategy to 𝗔𝗜 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, the discussions focused on how we can jointly drive 𝗔𝗜 & 𝗔𝘂𝘁𝗼𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, 𝗗𝗮𝘁𝗮 & 𝗔𝗻𝗮𝗹𝘆𝘁𝗶𝗰𝘀, 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗗𝗲𝗹𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝗘𝘅𝗰𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲.

Last weekend, our colleagues swapped keyboards for running shoes and hit the 6 km course at Crosul Companiilor in Cluj-Napoca.

No shortcuts. No Ctrl+Z. Just pace, energy and a team that knows how to keep moving, together.

Some ran. Some cheered. Everyone brought the energy.
