What happens when 34 students, 8 technologies, and a lot of curiosity come together for six weeks?

This summer, as part of BMW TechWorks Academy, 34 students from and .cluj joined our Summer Practice Program and got a taste of what it’s like to work in a real tech environment.

From Java, Angular, Salesforce, MuleSoft and SAP BTP to GenAI, Data Engineering and DevOps, they explored new technologies, worked side by side with our teams, learned from mentors, and transformed ideas into projects they proudly presented at the end of the program.

The journey concluded with project demos and presentations, followed by an awards ceremony led by , COO of , who congratulated the students on their achievements and encouraged them to stay curious, keep learning, and continue building the future of technology.

But beyond the code, this experience was about collaboration, confidence, and discovering what’s possible when talented people are given the chance to grow.

A huge thank you to everyone who mentored, coached, and supported the students along the way. 💙

The best part? Many participants are already looking forward to continuing their journey with us through future MiniTrooper programs.

Because great careers rarely start with a job. They start with an opportunity.

session last week, 90 minutes, plenty of insights.

The latest AI Community of Practice session brought together colleagues eager to explore how AI is reshaping the way we work, build, and deliver.

The session opened with , our COO, sharing his perspective on what it means to become AI Native and why an AI-first mindset is increasingly important for both individuals and organizations.

The agenda continued with:
• Timea Fodor on grounding AI coding assistants in the context of a codebase for more reliable and accurate results
• Florina Giurgiu on the ATC Skills Marketplace and how reusable AI agents and skills can accelerate delivery
• Isabella Mincu presenting BEACON, an AI-powered assistant designed to simplify onboarding and help colleagues navigate internal processes more efficiently

The AI CoP continues to bring together colleagues around practical experiences, experiments, and real use cases. It is a space where ideas are shared openly, lessons are exchanged, and new ways of applying AI to everyday challenges emerge naturally.

Thanks to everyone who joined, presented, and contributed to another engaging AI CoP session.

This week, our colleagues came together for three days of collaboration, creativity, and hands-on innovation during our AWS Hackathon.

Working in five teams, a total of 25 participants explored new ideas, challenged their perspectives, and transformed concepts into working solutions. The result: BE Yourself – The Future of Self Evaluation, an application built through teamwork, experimentation, and a shared drive to learn.

The event was made even more valuable with the support of our Amazon Web Services partners and the presence of two AWS Solution Architects, who joined us throughout the journey, sharing insights and perspectives along the way.

From brainstorming sessions to final presentations, the hackathon created space for connection, learning, and plenty of great ideas.

Five teams. Three days. One shared experience.

𝐀𝐫𝐞 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐀𝐈 𝐍𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞?

Some developers use AI.

Others can't imagine building software without it.

In our AI-Native Teams, AI is part of every stage, from understanding legacy systems and planning solutions to development, testing, and delivery.

Not because it's trendy.

Because it works.

Smarter decisions. Faster delivery. Better outcomes.

If this feels familiar, we should talk.

At , we often talk about being 100% AI. But being AI-native isn’t just about technology. It’s about empowering people to do what they do best.

Last week, Cluj-Napoca welcomed 90 exceptional high school students from over 30 countries for the first edition of the .official.

Throughout the competition, some of the brightest young AI talents came together to learn, collaborate, and push the boundaries of innovation.

During their visit to our hub, they teamed up to build a LEGO city made up of different districts – a challenge that perfectly combined technology, creativity, teamwork, and a lot of fun.

Romania achieved an outstanding result at the competition: 1 Gold Medal, 9 Silver Medals, and 1 Bronze Medal.

Before the awards ceremony, our CEO, Emil Petru, encouraged the participants to dream big, explore boldly, embrace AI, and never lose sight of what makes us human. His message was simple: let AI do what it does best, while we continue to cultivate creativity, empathy, critical thinking, curiosity, and collaboration.

Congratulations to all participants, mentors, organizers, and to for making the first edition of the European Olympiad in Artificial Intelligence such a success.

Let AI build the future. Let’s make sure the future stays human.

Technical Interviews in the AI Era 🤖

Last week, BMW TechWorks Romania joined the latest Today Software Magazine event, bringing a timely topic into the spotlight: What are we really testing in technical interviews when AI can generate code?

The conversation started with a compelling article co‑authored by our colleagues Andreea Rosu and Petronel Tanco, exploring how AI is shifting the focus from coding ability alone to critical thinking, validation, decision‑making, and system design.

Read the article here: https://www.todaysoftmag.ro/article/4559/interviurile-tehnice-in-era-ia-ce-mai-testam-de-fapt

Building on those ideas, Andreea Rosu, Senior Software Engineer, took the stage at the event and shared the article's key insights with the local tech community, opening the door to valuable discussions on how engineering and hiring practices continue to evolve.

Questions that matter. Perspectives that evolve. Conversations worth having.

This Wednesday we wrapped up and honestly, it was pretty awesome.

For the past months, 55 students joined us on a hybrid journey, learning, building stuff, and getting a real feel for how things actually work in tech. With 30+ mentors and 7 technologies, it was way more than just another student program.

At the final event, our CEO Emil Petru and our COO Marian Haus, who have been backing the program from day one, personally rewarded all participants.

is where curiosity turns into something real. And yeah… this is the kind of stuff we do at BMW TechWorks Romania.

Session 2 starts in November, stay tuned.

Episode 11 is live – Why MuleSoft? 🚀

In the newest episode of , our colleague Vlad Veltan explores a key topic in modern system architecture and answers an important question: Why MuleSoft?

In a landscape of distributed applications and complex ecosystems, MuleSoft brings clarity through connectivity. It enables teams to design APIs, integrate systems, and create flows that keep data moving seamlessly across platforms.

It connects. scales. orchestrates.

More than just integration, it supports a way of building where components work together, processes evolve faster, and complexity becomes manageable.

At BMW TechWorks Romania, MuleSoft is part of how scalable CRM integrations come to life, supporting the development of connected digital experiences across systems.

Watch the full episode and discover Vlad’s perspective.

And if you’re passionate about integration and modern platforms, we’re growing our teams:

This week, we kicked off our partnership with Asociatia Descopera-ti pasiunea in IT (DPIT), and it started exactly how it should: with people meeting, talking, and getting to know each other.

We welcomed 3 amazing teams, each made up of 6 talented high school students, in our hub for their first get-to-know session.

They met their mentors: Ion George Todoran, Ph.D., Andreea Rosu & Edward Vlad

…and had the chance to connect with Alexandru-Catalin Dinis (CTO), who shared more about what we do and how we build things at BMW TechWorks Romania.

It was a simple first step, but an important one.
Curiosity, good questions, and a lot of energy in the room.

Looking forward to seeing what these teams will build in the months ahead.

Yesterday we joined with a great crew of colleagues.

On stage, Alexandru-Catalin Dinis, our CTO, shared insights in “Go Native – What Could Go Wrong?”, while Emil Petru, our CEO, joined a panel of experts exploring the Cluj Business & Tech Landscape.

And the energy didn’t stop there, our booth was full of great conversations, curiosity, and meaningful connections, thanks to our amazing colleagues.

Big kudos to IT DAYS and Today Software Magazine for a well-crafted event.

Proud to be part of a community where we can contribute, connect, and keep learning.
