Meet our speaker, Srikanth Thudumu, PhD
Dr. Srikanth Thudumu is a Senior Research Fellow at the Applied Artificial Intelligence Institute (A2I2), specializing in translating AI research into practical, industry-focused solutions. Holding a PhD in AI, he leads a team of interns, HDR candidates, research engineers, and software engineers. As a Chief Investigator, he has secured over $1.18 million in funding from the Australian Department of Defence and various industry partners.
Dr. Thudumu has collaborated with the Australian Department of Defence and CSIRO to develop innovative technologies, including an AI-powered, mind-controlled autonomous wheelchair, a context-aware search engine, and an AI platform for merchandise image processing. His work has gained national and international media attention in outlets like CSIRO, The Hindu, and Yahoo Noticias.
His research interests encompass Anomaly Detection, Deep Reinforcement Learning (DRL), Object Tracking, ML Operationalization, and ML Model Reduction & Compression Strategies, all aimed at addressing real-world challenges for businesses and organizations. He actively contributes to the AI community as an associate editor and reviewer for esteemed journals like ACM Transactions on Knowledge Discovery from Data (TKDD) and IEEE Transactions on Industrial Informatics, and serves on program committees for major conferences such as IEEE Cloud.
Dr. Thudumu has been recognized for his exemplary teaching with the Rising Star Award at RMIT University and the Outstanding Teaching Award at Southern Cross University in Australia.
