Women in Data Science is excited to collaborate with Google Developer Group - Doha ()! At the WiDS Qatar conference, we're bringing you workshop, an initiative by Google that empowers women and underrepresented groups to celebrate their achievements in the workplace and beyond.

This workshop will be run by Ruchi Kapoor, a Motivational Speaker, Leadership Trainer, ICF USA Certified Executive, Life and Career Coach, Stress Management and Happiness Consultant, Yoga and Meditation Facilitator. Ruchi has 15 years of international corporate experience in HR. She has also worked in banking, financial centers, telecom, oil and gas, and other sectors. Currently, she works as an organizational excellence expert in the Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy. @ Qatar Foundation Student Centre

Dr. Marwa Qaraqe received her bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from Texas A&M University at Qatar in 2010. She earned her MSc and PhD from Texas A&M University in College Station, TX, USA in August of 2012 and May of 2016, respectively. She joined HBKU as a faculty member in September of 2016. Her research interests lie in the areas of wireless communications, signal processing, and machine learning Dr. Qaraqe serves a reviewer to several IEEE and technical international journals and conferences, including IEEE Wireless Communication and Networking Conference (WCNC) and IEEE Wireless Communication Magazine and serves on the IEEE Wireless Technical Committee on Wireless Communications.
Throughout her academic career, Dr. Qaraqe received several awards. She was awarded first place in the Qatar Foundation Annual Research Forum in the Health and Biomedical Sector in November 2013 and was awarded several Al-Thanaa awards from Qatar Foundation for her high academics and excellence in research. She was also the recipient of the Richard E. Wing Award for Excellence in 2012. During her master’s, Dr. Qaraqe was awarded Texas A&M University’s Diversity Fellowship. Dr. Qaraqe actively supervises several graduate students both at HBKU and globally and is engaged in multiple outreach programs in HBKU and in Qatar, including Women in Engineering.

Imene Mecheter is a Doctoral Researcher at Brunel University London, UK. She obtained her Bachelor's and Master’s in Computer Engineering from Qatar University in 2013 and 2017 respectively. She is working as a Research Associate at Texas A&M University in Qatar. Her research interest is medical imaging and applications using artificial intelligence. She is currently working on a breast cancer detection project using deep learning. In her PhD thesis, she is exploring the automatic segmentation of magnetic resonance imaging using deep learning.

"I got my BSc degree in computer science from the Faculty of Computer and Information Sciences (FCIS), Ain Shams University, Egypt. I worked as a teaching assistant in FCIS from 2002 to 2008. In 2008, I completed my postgraduate degree and thesis for the Master's in Mobile Agents Data Security. I then came to Qatar and worked as a programming tutor for three years in the Academic Resource Center in Carnegie Mellon University. There, my job was to assist freshmen and sophomores in parts of their programming courses. I also assisted the professors in evaluating and grading the students' developed software pieces according to the course requirements. Later, I worked privately in developing document management and correspondence tracking systems. In Spring 2018, I started my PhD at the faculty of Engineering-Qatar University. My research interests are information retrieval and big data analytics, and I am currently exploring the problem of linking text documents using shared context and background knowledge." ⁠— Marwa Essam

WiDS Qatar and the College of Science and Engineering at Hamad bin Khalifa University are delighted to invite you to the 4th Annual Women in Data Science Conference in Qatar. This event is co-organized by Arab Women in Computing.

Women in Data Science, a global initiative by Stanford University, is a great opportunity for women from all walks of life to join us in a series of talks given by innovative and leading women in the fields of Data Science, technology and STEM.

The event will be held in English.

تدعوكم كلية الهندسة بجامعة حمد بن خليفة ومبادرة النساء في علم البيانات في قطر، بالتعاون مع منظمة النساء العرب في الحوسبة؛ لحضور المؤتمر السنوي الرابع لعلم البيانات في قطر.

النساء في علم البيانات هي مبادرة دولية نُظمت من قبل جامعة ستانفورد الأمريكية، وتمثّل فرصة ممتازة للنساء من مختلف المجالات للانضمام معنا في سلسلة حوارات تقدمها نساء رائدات ومخترعات في مجاليّ علم البيانات والتكنولوجيا.
