Fun Fact: The 1st digital camera was created by a Kodak employee named Steve Sasson in 1975. The 8 pound devise took almost 30 seconds to take a black and white photo and had to be hooked to the TV to preview the images. Kodak said the device wasn't functional enough for consumers and dismissed Sasson's invention. Steve Sasson refused to give up though and perfected his design by 1989 with the help of coworker Robert Hills. Kodak patented the fully functional modern camera then did nothing with it. When digital media became the standard for photography Kodak made billions charging other companies such as Cannon and FujiFilm for the rights to produce digital cameras. However Kodak never successfully broke into the digital camera market itself and when the patent ran out in 2007 began losing money rapidly. This culminated in the company filing for bankruptcy in 2012 ending a 131 year rein as one of the leader's in photography.
