Last night on Porto Canal, a story about Floresta Segura was shown on Jornal Diário. Team leader D, Gonçalo Leão, explained the project, the app functionalities, it's use and how it will help Tondela's GNR GIPS in the field, on preventing new fires over the region.

Um grupo de alunos da Faculdade de Engenharia do Porto está a desenvolver uma aplicação que vai permitir resolver o problema de falta de cadastro florestal do concelho de Tondela. O objetivo é identificar de forma mais eficaz os proprietários dos terrenos que estejam por limpar.

"Um grupo de estudantes da Faculdade de Engenharia da Universidade do Porto (FEUP) juntou-se à Câmara Municipal de Tondela para ajudar a prevenir incêndios florestais. Após a tragédia do ano passado, o projeto “Floresta Segura” pretende ajudar a identificar proprietários de terrenos a necessitar de limpeza, através de uma aplicação móvel. [...] O município contactou a FEUP e mostra-se feliz com a aceitação do projeto. “Contar com a colaboração de instituições como a FEUP revela-se uma ferramenta fundamental para a estratégia a desenvolver no futuro”, afirmou o vereador da Câmara de Tondela, Miguel Torres."

The objective is to promote Comparty’s system with the creation of a mobile quiz game that increase users knowledge about music and the interaction between people.

Last Tuesday, March 27th, Team D visited their clients in Tondela.
After being warmly welcomed in the city hall and meeting the team, they accompanied some GNR officers to the freguesia of Santiago de Besteiros to view how they work. They visited some of the local properties and spoke with their landowners to gather information and make sure the land is cleaned. The GNR members’ work is vital in order to reduce the occurrences of new fires.
After having lunch, Team D, alongside city hall members and GNR officers, gathered at the city hall to discuss the project in more detail.
Overall, the trip helped Team D’s members have a more clear vision of their project, having met with the people who will use the software.

Client: Camâra Municipal de Tondela

The main objective of the project is to optimize the work of the Grupo de Intervenção de Proteção e Socorro (GIPS) through a mobile application to identify land owners in need of cleaning and to collect and store relevant information to prevent future fires like the ones of October 2017.
