Serra do Açor – Paisagem Protegida · 2025

The central design challenge for the Paisagem Protegida da Serra do Açor was articulating the immense ecological richness of the protected area within a unified exhibition space.

We needed to build an identity that was robust yet adaptable, honoring the legacy of the landscape while providing a clear, contemporary navigational framework to decode its complex ecosystems. To resolve the tension between detailed information and spatial harmony, our strategy relied on a stark contrast between monumental physical immersion and highly concentrated digital exploration. The physical exhibition features large-scale photographs by Frederico Martinho that completely envelop visitors in the dense forest environment. To complement this, the dense educational content authored by Sílvia Neves (ICNF) was channeled into two interactive tablets. This digital interface maintains the immersive experience by using full-screen background images and overlaying grid systems to organize complex data, allowing visitors to navigate seamlessly through layered information. This also gives them the autonomy to consume shortened overviews or dive into deep scientific texts.

The result is a highly adaptable exhibition design that successfully balances monumental physical imagery with a rigorous typographic system and layered, intuitive digital interfaces.

Case di Quartiere di Bologna · 2022

The visual identity of the Casa di Quartiere di Bologna was developed around the principles of inclusivity, belonging, and collective participation, reflecting the broader initiative led by the Municipality of Bologna to transform former senior citizen social centers into “Neighborhood Houses.” These spaces have been reimagined as open and accessible community hubs that promote cultural exchange, social interaction, and new forms of support for individuals and families experiencing situations of vulnerability.

At the core of the identity system is the symbolic representation of the house as a universal space of protection, comfort, and human connection. The concept of "home" transcends its physical structure becoming an emotional and social environment where individuals feel safe to express themselves, build relationships, and share experiences grounded in mutual support.

The evolving symbol reflects the diversity of neighborhoods and communities within the network. Its dynamic nature and flexible color palette allow each house to express its own identity while remaining part of a unified visual system. Brand coherence is reinforced through the consistent use of the name “Case di Quartiere,” the typography — Degular by OH no Type Co. — and a shared graphic language based on geometric forms used as transparent and flexible framing devices. The imagery highlights both the cultural and recreational activities promoted within these spaces and the sense of well-being, togetherness, and community they foster.

INDEX · 2026

Alongside unprecedented development, recent exponential technological advances have also led to greater political and social fragmentation, the flourishing of extremism and economic inequality, massive algorithmic surveillance and, inevitably, the progressive redefinition of power relations, reconfiguring the concept of sovereignty, now hostage to the omnipresent technological giants.
This was the theme for a new edition of the INDEX biennial in Braga, from 7 to 17 May 2026, proposing a broad reflection on the multiple relationships between Power, Art and Technology, through a diverse programme which includes live shows, conferences, an exhibition and educational activities, which will take place at different locations throughout the city.

WOW – LEGO Exhibition · 2025

BrickWorld is a unique and exclusive LEGO® exhibition created specifically for the . It invites visitors into a fantasy universe that celebrates childhood, creativity, and imagination.

Highlights include detailed LEGO constructions inspired by the city of Porto—such as a 2.3-meter Clérigos Tower, Lello Bookstore, Porto Cathedral, and a Rabelo boat with a Taylor's Port sail—alongside a Christmas Village, a Medieval Castle, and scenes featuring iconic science fiction characters and famous film moments.

The exhibition is organised into 12 themed areas, each featuring a cardboard structure decorated with printed graphics that reflect its theme. The displayed pieces are protected by acrylic and glass enclosures, and the visual design throughout the exhibition is inspired by the LEGO grid system.

Shopyard – Exhibition Design & Visual Communication · 2025

Shopyard’s visual identity was designed as a bridge between curatorial thinking, architecture, and the public experience. The challenge? Bringing clarity and cohesion to a fragmented commercial space while building a strong, unified identity.

We created a system where colour, typography, and layout work together. The exhibition unfolds across three thematic axes, each defined by a distinct colour that intuitively guides visitors through the space. Shaded text blocks enhance readability and allow content to adapt seamlessly across walls, floors, windows, and temporary structures.

The result is a flexible yet consistent visual language that scales from bold spatial gestures to detailed texts, reflecting the evolving nature of shopping centres and supporting Shopyard’s vision to rethink these spaces within today’s urban and cultural landscape.

Rituals, From Courtship to Marriage · 2025

As a graphic system, the Love Handkerchief can be understood as both message and medium: a visual declaration of affection in which composition, technique, and meaning are inseparable.

It operates within a defined spatial structure—a square format that establishes both boundary and rhythm. The composition is typically organized from the edges inward, where cross-stitched verses trace the perimeter to form a textual frame. This border functions simultaneously as decoration and narrative device, guiding the eye, enclosing meaning, and reinforcing the idea of devotion as something carefully constructed and contained.

At the center, a heart motif consistently anchors the composition, acting as both visual and symbolic core. Around it, all other elements are arranged in relation. The hierarchy is clear: text constructs the framework, ornament reinforces it, and the heart consolidates meaning.

Rituals, From Courtship to Marriage · 2025

Courtship and marriage rituals in Northern Portugal during the 19th and 20th centuries reveal a clear divide between urban elites and rural communities. While the bourgeoisie followed a “theatre of manners,” guided by non-verbal codes—such as the symbolic use of fans, gloves, and opera glasses—and marriages strategically arranged through formal dowry contracts; in rural communities courtships often emerged in contexts of collective labor—such as “desfolhadas” and “espadeladas”—and were sealed through the exchange of love handkerchiefs or carved objects.

This context informs the visual language of the two exhibitions. One adopts a festive, popular atmosphere inspired by the colors of these “objects of love”, while the other—structured into ten moments—maintains a consistent, restrained system, using a single color to highlight the displayed pieces.

Rituals, From Courtship to Marriage · 2025

Courtship and marriage were central rites of passage across all social classes in late 19th- to mid-20th-century northern Portuguese society, rooted in community life among the popular classes, and shaped as strategic alliances by family authority and economic interests among the elites. Presented across two locations — Museu do Traje and Museu de Artes Decorativas, Viana do Castelo — the exhibition explores these contrasting perspectives through their rituals and symbolism, drawing visual inspiration from Love Handkerchiefs, delicate tokens of affection, commitment, and respect.
