Last Tuesday, we brought together voices from across the Portuguese and German tech ecosystems to look at where Portugal’s ICT sector stands today and where it can go next.

The webinar on the “Portugal ICT Study 2026–2030”, organized by Câmara de Comércio e Indústria Luso-Alemã / AHK Portugal, sparked a rich discussion around nearshore, AI, talent, international growth, and Europe’s digital and economic sovereignty.

A few ideas came through clearly:

📊 Portugal has evolved into a mature, export-oriented ICT market with strong infrastructure, experienced talent, and growing international relevance.

🤖 AI is reshaping delivery models, increasing the value of senior engineering, stronger collaboration, and smarter orchestration across teams and tools.

🤝 The Portugal–Germany relationship has real strategic depth, supported by proximity, a shared European framework, complementary capabilities, and a growing history of cooperation.

The quotes in this carousel capture some of the perspectives shared during the session, including insights from Matthias Moehler (Mercedes-Benz.io), Stephan Fricke (Deutscher Outsourcing Verband e.V. / German Outsourcing Association), Jan Thorsten Kötschau (Câmara de Comércio e Indústria Luso-Alemã / AHK Portugal), Hugo Enes (TRH - Tech Remote Hub), Miguel Machete (Cuatrecasas), Guilherme Ramos Pereira and Tomás Santos (99x Portugal).

A big thank you to everyone who contributed to the conversation and helped make the session such a valuable one. And, of course, to our Study’s institutional partners: APDC, DSPA - Data Science & Artificial Intelligence Portuguese Association, ANJE, TICE.PT and Startup Portugal.

The webinar recording will be available soon, stay tuned!

Lisbon is hosting one of Europe’s biggest German business gatherings and 99x is right in the middle of it. 🙌

Guilherme Ramos Pereira is representing us at the European Conference of the German Business 2026, bringing together business leaders and the global network of German Chambers of Commerce Abroad.

A valuable opportunity to keep strengthening the relationships built through our partnership with Câmara de Comércio e Indústria Luso-Alemã / AHK Portugal, institutional partner in the Portugal ICT Study 2026–2030 (which made it to the event too!), and to connect with decision-makers and regional hubs across Germany.
