André Zúquete está há mais de 23 anos na Universidade de Aveiro, onde dirige o Mestrado em Cibersegurança. É também investigador no IEETA (Instituto de Engenharia Eletrónica e Informática de Aveiro) e colaborador do Instituto de Telecomunicações.

Traz a perspetiva de quem forma, todos os anos, os profissionais que vão implementar e fiscalizar estes sistemas no terreno, e de quem vê em primeira mão como a academia se está a adaptar ao AI Act e à NIS2.

Our project managers Pedro Colarejo and André Fernandes joined the PILLARS consortium partners at the Center for Humanities of ZRS Koper, in Slovenia, for a face-to-face progress meeting.

We brought our development to the table focused on the impact management. What started as a presentation quickly became a real working session. How could this solution work in education? In business? In contexts not even mapped yet?

That’s the value of building alongside partners from different fields. The perspective is fresh and challenges you to go beyond.

Last week, our team sat down for something a little different: the Edgar Schein career anchors test. 🧭

The idea was simple: figure out what actually drives all of us at work.

It was a good excuse for some individual introspection. But the more interesting part was seeing everyone else's results.

Turns out a team that's fully aligned on building something great together can still be made up of people who are motivated by completely different things. And somehow, that's exactly what makes it work. 😌

O primeiro nome da mesa-redonda do IDEA #2 já é oficial! 🥳

Jorge Saraiva é Presidente do ENIA, o Observatório Nacional de Inteligência Artificial que prepara Portugal para o AI Act. A sua tese: a regulação europeia pode ser a maior oportunidade de credibilidade global que a IA portuguesa alguma vez vai ter.

Há mais de 25 anos a escalar operações internacionais e a liderar iniciativas de cidades inteligentes na Europa. Liderou o projeto Smart.London, que deu origem ao documentário "Smart London - Small London", e foi responsável pela European Network of City Policy Labs no EU Smart City Marketplace.

Agora, dedica a carreira a governar a tecnologia em vez de apenas a aplicar.

His talk, "The Non-US AI Blueprint: Practical Alternatives to US LLMs," dug into what it actually takes to build viable alternatives to the US-dominated LLM landscape. Not theory. Practical paths. 🤖

Nobody warns you when a tool you've been using for two years quietly becomes a compliance risk.

That's the unsettling part of the EU AI Act. The exposure isn't about what you build next. It's about what's already running inside your business right now, often without anyone flagging it.

A support chatbot. A scoring model you bought from a vendor. An HR tool with an AI feature nobody noticed was even there.

The risk isn't in building AI. It's in using it without knowing where it carries the most weight. Knowing where you're exposed beats assuming you're not.
