Most companies think they've "adopted ." Look closer, and almost all of that adoption is the same thing: drafting, summarizing, searching. A human still reviews everything before it matters.
That's . It's valuable, but it's not the whole story. The much smaller group of companies has moved to something different: . Systems that update records, trigger workflows, and resolve things end-to-end, with humans stepping in only when something needs attention.
Why doesn't everyone get there? Four things keep showing up, no matter the industry:
✅ Integration debt - connecting AI to real systems is harder than plugging a chatbot into a browser.
✅ Accountability gap - nobody's defined who owns it when an autonomous action goes wrong.
✅ Data readiness - most data isn't clean enough to be acted on safely.
✅ Risk asymmetry - a bad action costs a lot more than a bad first draft, so caution is rational.
None of this closes on its own, even as the models keep getting better. It takes integration work, governance, and process redesign.
At ethree, this is what our AI Lab is built to do: close that gap, deliberately and with the right guardrails in place from day one. In this article, our AI Operations Lead wrote up how we're closing that gap, and where the highest-impact opportunities are showing up across banking, supply chain, and the public sector right now.
