Tip: Start with a problem, not a solution. 🤔

To provide the best solutions you have to understand deeply the problem that needs to be solved. Hence, you should first do research and analysis to extend your knowledge about your customer business domain. After that, you will decide whether you should use tools like Magento, Sylius, WordPress, or any other. 🤓

By putting the tool/solution in the first place, you may lead to the situation when your customer has to adapt his business processes and everyday activities to the tool you want to develop, which stays opposite to the purpose of choosing you as a business partner. 😱

Always think about the customer and his problem firstly, then provide the solution - that's a key to victory 🏆

Tip: Don't do optimization of your store too early - it may be counterproductive! 😱

Sometimes we are facing an issue when after launching the MVP version of implemented store customers want to start the optimization process by providing additional cache mechanisms, introducing queue systems, or introduce multiple databases to be ready to scale. Of course, these are important activities to apply, but not at the beginning, because they introduce additional complexity and architectural components that need to be maintained and configured properly. If not, then we may face issues that may slow down our online shop, because, for example, the queue will process data slower than it should be or cache mechanisms will be too aggressive and will block some dynamically rendered elements. 😠

Provided examples show that applying that kind of tools has to be preceded by a use case analysis and a deep understanding of how those technologies are working to be well crafted for considered cases. For most stores that are starting their e-commerce adventure, it will be more important to optimize business processes that take place in that platform, because in the beginning, this will gain us more customers and more income. After that, we may face the moment when optimizations will be needed, so applying them earlier is simply wasting time and resources because that time might not happen 💰

So remember: it is always wise to optimize business processes at the beginning and optimize store architecture only if you reach a certain customer volume. 🤓

Tip: Always do a pre-implementation analysis stage in your project 🤓

During that phase, we are able to understand the customer business domain, which is essential for our further work. Thanks to that we can propose a solution that helps clients in their digital transformation and business processes automation.

Some people argue that pre-implementation analysis is another cost for the project, but from our experience, it turns out that applying the considered stage helps us to produce better-designed concepts and eliminate errors before we start to implement business logic. As a result, we can reduce the whole project cost by up to 20%! 😮 Which means the faster delivery date and more money in the customer wallet 💰

From our perspective the pre-implementation analysis stage allows us to understand how the company works in detail. Having that in mind, we can design architecture and final solutions taking into account not only typical functional aspects but also the organization's business ecosystem. So in fact it's a win-win approach.

If you want to start your e-commerce project with success in mind don't underestimate the value of pre-implementation analysis 😊

What is the role of the software house in the business relationship with the client❓

Some time ago, we had a business meeting with our potential customer about implementing their online store based on a platform. After discussing business processes that are connected with their company we identified some problems in their order statuses workflow. Our analyst decided to do an Event Storming session to extend knowledge about that part of the business. 🤓

As a result, the company identified that the currently used way of handling orders is inefficient and they should change that 😮 Of course, the shop that will be implemented should be adapted to the new order statuses workflow.

That story shows something that we highly believe: we should do everything we can do to support our customers, no matter if we are responsible only for development, business analysis, or administration. We used our knowledge about and to transform some parts of the organization even though we are "only" software house. And we are happy that we choose the customer-oriented direction. 😉

Ah, did we say that described company became our customer? 😊
