Have you ever come across the term and you’re not quite sure what that means? Here’s a brief introduction🔽
RFID stands for Radio Frequency IDentification. In most common applications this technology uses passive devices called transponders or tags, responsible for both storing information and transmitting it to the interrogator (reader).
RFID tags can come in various shapes, forms and sizes. At Talkin’ Things we specialize in designing and manufacturing these tags, oftenly customizing them to meet our customers’ specific requirements.
So, how exactly does RFID function? RFID readers are employed to access the data encoded on tags. When an RFID tag comes within the reader’s proximity, it harvests the electromagnetic waves to power the chip and sends its stored information (usually its unique ID) back to the reader. This enables the identification and tracking of items without the need for direct contact or line-of-sight.
Essentially, RFID is a technology that leverages radio waves to swiftly and precisely identify and track objects, making various routine tasks more efficient and straightforward.
