We have just come through two intense months filled with storms and lightning activity. It is safe to say that we are now halfway through the storm season.
During this time, our surge protection devices have certainly been working hard.
We hope your installations were properly protected and that our solutions effectively safeguarded your equipment against the effects of power surges. Hopefully, this meant no failures and no unnecessary service calls.
However, if you have not yet had the chance to protect your installations, we have prepared a short guide on what is worth installing before the next storm:
Cameras mounted on poles and in open areas
– EXTREME Series (e.g. PTF-51-EXT/PoE)
Maximum protection for locations with the highest risk of lightning strikes. A three-stage protection system supported by a MOSFET fuse disconnects the surge impulse in less than 1 μs.
Cameras mounted on building façades
– PROFESSIONAL Series (e.g. PTF-51-PRO/PoE/MICRO)
The optimal solution for standard outdoor installations. It effectively protects the camera, network switch and PoE power supply path against the effects of power surges.
Centralised protection in a RACK cabinet
– Multi-channel panels (e.g. PTF-516R-PRO/PoE or PTF-516R-EXT/PoE)
Comprehensive protection for up to 16 Ethernet channels in a 19-inch, 1U format. It provides neat installation, organised cabling and preserves data transmission integrity.
The conclusion?
It is better to protect your installation before a storm than to deal with the consequences of power surges afterwards.
If a storm has already affected your installation, contact us. We will help you select the appropriate protection solution for your specific application.
