In the automotive industry, good ideas often get stuck long before anyone has the chance to see them working. The feasibility studies, discovery workshops and demos pile up and, while the scope is still being debated, the market moves relentlessly on.

Our webinar featured two MakoLab experts, Przemysław Jawniuk, Head of Connected Car Delivery, and Michał Miązek, Senior Technical Lead & Software Architect. Using a real fleet maintenance case for their live demo, they showed the participants how to compress the process into one intensively focused workshop.

What did the session cover?

🟡 The method: how business and technology teams can work through an idea together in a single workshop and leave not with just a technical proof-of-concept, but with the hard evidence they need to decide if it’s worth pursuing.
🟡 The live build: starting from a fleet availability problem, Michał built a working prototype right there, on camera, in the form of a recall-aware maintenance dashboard leveraging the NHTSA recalls API. We saw him move from concept to AI-assisted requirements to working PoV in real time.
🟡 Why this matters: for faster go/no-go decisions, a lower cost to being wrong, the alignment achieved between engineering and business thanks to the shared evidence and, critically, a working prototype to assess rather than slides alone.

Most enterprises don’t struggle to start with AI. What they do struggle with is making it hold up in production; in other words, with moving past pilots into something that scales and pays back.

An agent working from an ambiguous requirement doesn't stop to ask what you meant. It just surges ahead and gives you a confident, plausible answer anyway and that’s the answer that moves straight on to the next stage of the pipeline.

Development velocity keeps climbing. What's harder to keep track of is whether the requirements behind the code were actually clear, whether the documentation matches what’s live and who signed off on the decision that’s now baked in.

McKinsey records 62% of organisations as being at the experimentation stage with AI agents. Scaling is much rarer, with just 23% reporting scaling somewhere in their business. Within any single function, that number drops to 10% or less. When it comes to software engineering, 77% still aren’t using agents at all.

Dominik Smajek, Head of Quality Assurance at MakoLab, describes the change he's seeing in teams as a shift in the ratio of developers to analysts from roughly 3:1 to 1:3 as the work turns more towards defining the problem clearly enough for an agent to act on.

Capgemini's trust data points the same way, with only 22% of leaders now fully trusting autonomous agents, down from about 43% a year ago.

A new report from Antal in partnership with MakoLab maps the eight conditions that separate teams scaling AI agents safely and teams stuck at the pilot stage. Crucially, none of those conditions are rooted in budget or which model is being used.

Ask an ops team about CPU load or system uptime and you'll have an answer before you finish the question.

Ask whether a customer actually completed checkout five minutes ago or what the most recent outage cost in lost revenue and you'll usually be met with a pause instead of a number.

This certainly isn’t a tooling problem, as a new report, “AI-Ready Infrastructure: Observability and Operations”, produced by Antal in collaboration with MakoLab, clearly reveals. Among the citations is a Deloitte survey which found that 74% of organisations plan to roll out agentic AI within two years, but only 21% have the governance in place to run it safely. The numbers cited from research by Capgemini tell the same story from a different angle, with 82% of businesses still languishing at low or medium AI infrastructure maturity.

The report is grounded in extensive desk research and interviews with MakoLab experts. Tomasz Polke, who heads MakoLab’s Cloud & Infrastructure Services business unit, puts things plainly when he notes that most teams only find out something’s wrong once a client or customer tells them. Proactive, business-linked observability is still the exception, not the norm.

“AI-Ready Infrastructure” delves into what it actually takes to flip that and where AI genuinely earns its place once the groundwork has been laid.
