سوشل میڈیا پر اکثر لوگ ایک جملہ بطور اسٹیٹس لگا رہے ہیں:
"میں اپنی تصاویر یا ذاتی معلومات کے استعمال کی اجازت نہیں دیتا/دیتی"

لیکن حقیقت یہ ہے کہ یہ محض ایک جذباتی اعلان ہے، جس کا پلیٹ فارم کی پالیسی یا آپ کی پرائیویسی پر کوئی قانونی اثر نہیں ہوتا۔ اگر آپ واقعی اپنی نجی زندگی کو محفوظ رکھنا چاہتے ہیں تو صرف اسٹیٹس لکھنے کے بجائے عملی اقدامات کرنا ضروری ہے۔

1. ذاتی معلومات کم سے کم شیئر کریں
اپنی لوکیشن، فون نمبر، گھر کا پتہ یا روزمرہ کے معمولات کبھی عام نہ کریں۔

اپنی اور اپنے خاندان کی نجی معلومات عوامی پوسٹس میں مت ڈالیں۔

اگر شیئر کرنا ضروری ہو تو پرائیویسی سیٹنگز میں صرف مخصوص دوستوں کو ہی رسائی دیں۔

2. تصاویر اور ویڈیوز کے معاملے میں احتیاط
ہر تصویر اپلوڈ کرنے سے پہلے سوچیں کہ کیا یہ مستقبل میں آپ کے لیے مسئلہ بن سکتی ہے؟

بچوں کی تصاویر پبلک اسٹیٹس پر اپلوڈ کرنے سے گریز کریں۔
تصاویر صرف ان لوگوں کے ساتھ شیئر کریں جن پر آپ کو مکمل بھروسہ ہو۔

3. ایپ کی رسائی محدود کریں
کسی بھی ایپ کو اپنے کیمرے، مائیکروفون یا گیلری تک غیر ضروری رسائی نہ دیں۔
اجازت دیتے وقت “Just Once” یا “While Using the App” کا آپشن منتخب کریں۔
جب اجازت عارضی مقصد کے لیے دی جائے تو بعد میں ایپ کی سیٹنگز سے اسے بند کر دیں۔

4. تھرڈ پارٹی ایپس سے بچیں
سوشل میڈیا اکاؤنٹس کے ساتھ جڑنے والی غیر معتبر ایپس (مثلاً مفت گیمز یا کوئز) آپ کی پرائیویسی کے لیے خطرہ ہیں۔
ایپ انسٹال کرنے سے پہلے اس کی ریٹنگز، ریویوز اور پرمیشن لسٹ ضرور دیکھیں۔

5. اکاؤنٹ کی سکیورٹی مضبوط کریں
ہر سوشل میڈیا پلیٹ فارم پر Two-Factor Authentication آن کریں۔
پاس ورڈز میں حروف، اعداد اور علامات شامل کریں، اور ہر 3–6 ماہ بعد انہیں تبدیل کریں۔
ایک ہی پاس ورڈ کئی اکاؤنٹس پر استعمال نہ کریں۔
(کوئی قابل اعتباد پاسورڈ منیجر استعمال کریں)

6. حساس گفتگو عوامی پلیٹ فارمز پر نہ کریں
نجی معاملات پر گفتگو کے لیے صرف انکرپٹڈ میسجنگ ایپس استعمال کریں۔
عوامی پوسٹس یا کمنٹس میں اپنے ذاتہ معملات، حساس خیالات یا منصوبے ہرگز شیئر نہ کریں۔

7. اپنی پرائیویسی سیٹنگز کا باقاعدہ جائزہ
ہر دو سے تین ماہ بعد اپنے سوشل میڈیا پروفائل کی Privacy Settings چیک کریں۔
پرانی یا غیر ضروری پوسٹس اور تصاویر کو ڈیلیٹ کر دیں۔

8. — آپ کی پروفائلنگ ہو رہی ہے
ہمیشہ ذہن میں رکھیں کہ دنیا بھر کی انٹیلیجنس ایجنسیاں، کارپوریٹ ادارے، حتیٰ کہ ویزہ اور نوکری دینے سے پہلے آجر آپ کی پروفائلنگ آپ کے سوشل میڈیا ہینڈلز سے کرتے ہیں۔
لہٰذا یہاں صرف وہی مواد اپ لوڈ کریں اور ویسی ہی گفتگو پوسٹس اور کمنٹس میں کریں، جس کا بوجھ آپ اٹھا سکتے ہیں، یا جیسی شخصیت آپ دوسروں کو دکھانا چاہتے ہیں۔

یاد رکھیے:
پرائیویسی صرف ایک اعلان یا سٹیٹس سے نہیں بلکہ سمجھداری اور مستقل عملی اقدامات سے محفوظ رہتی ہے۔
"انٹرنیٹ پر آپ کا شئیر کیا گیا مواد سالوں اور صدیوں کے لیے باقی رہ سکتا ہے، اس لیے سوچ سمجھ کر شیئر کریں۔"
