Apple had announced it in June 2020 and from this week it will become effective: with the App Tracking Transparency, users will have the possibility to authorize or not the tracking of their online behavior.
What does it mean in a nutshell? That if users can opt-out, or refuse tracking, those who invest in Facebook campaigns will lose a large chunk of the data on which their campaigns are based.
Less data = less personalized listings = fewer conversions.
There are those who even say that this news from Apple will lead to a 60% drop in sales on social media 😮😮😮

😇 I highly suggest you guys implement Facebook conversion API.
🛑 More and more people browsing the internet use ad blockers or pixel-blocking extensions on their web browsers.
And these block Facebook from being able to track performance and attribute sales to the ads being served to a user.
Also, Google intends to completely remove the ability to use cookies by 2022.
Therefore, the most useful case for implementing Facebook’s Conversions API will be the opportunity to improve the quality of your data and ad performance overall.
😃 The good news?!
For Shopify store owners, event deduplication happens automatically.
Once a visitor makes a purchase, the conversion API before sending the data to Facebook checks the Facebook Pixel for a match by comparing data like email address, Ip address, phone number, and if a match occurs only one transaction event will be sent to Facebook.
Yet if a visitor browsing your store has ad blockers or pixel-blocking extensions enabled on their web browsers, the pixel would not track the conversion, however, with the conversion API, the purchase event will be tracked and sent to Facebook.
