🕟 What is LNB Skew, and how do you set it?
LNB skew in a satellite signal reception system refers to rotating the LNB to a certain angle within its holder (feedhorn). This angle is expressed as a clock time because when you look at the LNB from the front of the dish, the way it rotates resembles the hands of a clock.
To set the LNB skew, imagine a clock face surrounding the LNB, and consider the LNB's cable connection (connector) as the clock hand. In the example above, the LNB skew is set to 4 o'clock.
As you fine-tune the LNB skew properly, you will get better Signal Strength and Signal Quality on the frequency you are receiving.
✍️ How to set LNB skew:
▫️ Select a strong frequency from the satellite you wish to receive.
▫️ Gently rotate the LNB to the left or right.
▫️ Check the Quality (signal quality) level of the frequency, then find the LNB angle that gives the best Quality.
▫️ After adjusting the LNB skew correctly, tighten the holder bracket/screw so that it stays in place without moving.
✍️ Note: On some older LNBs, the probe/polarization system inside the LNB might be in a different position compared to the output connector's position. Because of this, the "clock" number you see may not necessarily match that of a newer LNB, such as LASER, Nokia, or Strong LNBs, among others.
