🔍 𝗗𝗲𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗱 𝗗𝗿𝗶𝘃𝗲𝘀: 𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗦𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗮𝗦𝗔𝗡 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝘁𝗲𝗰𝘁𝘀 𝗦𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆

For enterprises evaluating VMware alternatives or modernizing their HCI environments, storage resilience is not only about what happens when a drive fails. What happens when the drive stays online but becomes dangerously slow?

⚠️ 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗴𝗲
A drive does not need to fail to disrupt the business. When I/O response time rises from around 10 ms to more than 100 ms, the device may remain online while replica writes stall, cluster throughput drops, and service continuity is put at risk.

Traditional detection and isolation approaches can also be too slow or too broad to respond precisely to degraded drive conditions.

🧩 𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗦𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗮𝗦𝗔𝗡 𝗔𝗱𝗱𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗲𝘀 𝗜𝘁
• 𝗧𝘄𝗼 𝗹𝗮𝘆𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘁𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆: The storage client data plane detects replica degradation, temporarily isolates a degraded replica within seconds, and reports fault information. The soft isolation control plane then analyzes the fault and decides whether the replica should be enabled again or rebuilt.
• 𝗔𝗽𝗽𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗹𝗮𝘆𝗲𝗿 𝘀𝗼𝗳𝘁𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗶𝘀𝗼𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗽𝗵𝘆𝘀𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗱𝗿𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗼𝘃𝗮𝗹: aSAN uses a fully software-based isolation mechanism. This avoids physical drive removal, reduces compatibility issues across different hardware brands, and improves solution versatility and stability.

✅ 𝗩𝗮𝗹𝗶𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝘂𝗹𝘁𝘀
In Sangfor's comparative testing with VMware vSAN, aSAN showed faster detection and more granular handling of stalled and slow drive conditions. For an HDD, aSAN identifies a stalled drive after 13 seconds, compared with VMware vSAN's 120-second default timeout.

In a live manufacturing MES environment, a low frequency HDD stall was handled within 15 seconds, while multiple degraded drive events over six months were addressed with only very short service interruption.

The Sangfor EPIC Cloud Summit 2026 brought together 400+ customers from across the globe in Shenzhen, and we were proud to have our valued customers from Pakistan joining this global gathering.

Across the Summit, our customers had the opportunity to experience Sangfor beyond the conference room — from visiting our newly built headquarters and exhibition center to exploring Shenzhen’s world’s largest indoor ski resort, while connecting with Sangfor teams and customers from different markets.

🇵🇰🇨🇳 Sangfor Partner Summit 2026 | Day 2 Highlights

The Sangfor Partner Summit 2026 continued in Shenzhen with a day full of ideas, insights, new opportunities and stronger partner connections, all under this year’s theme: “AI-Native, Partner-Centric.”

With 600+ partners from more than 20 countries including Pakistan coming together, Day 2 was truly at the heart of the Summit.

💡 The Main Summit brought together Sangfor experts and partners to explore the opportunities shaping the future of IT — from AI-ready Infrastructure and Enterprise Agents to Managed AI SecOps, Secure AI and VMware alternatives.

For our Pakistan delegation and partners, it was a great opportunity to gain new insights, connect with Sangfor teams and explore how these technologies can create new possibilities for the market back home.

The afternoon continued with workshops, demos and partner-focused sessions, covering AI, Cloud & AI Infrastructure, Cybersecurity and Ecosystem Collaboration — with practical discussions around technologies, use cases and business opportunities.
